EPRI is an independent, non-profit company performing research, development and demonstration in the electricity sector for the benefit of the public.

Our broad array of collaborative RD&D programs focuses on the many specific technology challenges of helping our members provide society with reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible electricity.

EPRI is funded by membership participation in its research activities. Members represent more than 90% of the electricity generated and delivered in the U.S. International participation extends to 40 countries.

EPRI is holding the next round of its Technology Transfer Awards this evening, honoring innovative industry leaders that have successfully applied EPRI technologies in environmental controls and power delivery and utilization systems. EPRI research regarding the measures of safety that can be taken against manhole cover explosions is making an impact in New Jersey--the state Board of Public Utilities is citing EPRI's report that recommends the tethering of manhole covers in the event an explosion sends one into the air:
