+MAKE issue 30 is in news stands, ready to scratch your make-it-yourself itch. It includes a couple of pages where I teach you to build super simple indestructable LED lanterns. They float, they sink, they can be frozen and even hit with the lawn mower. (Which I don't recommend doing on purpose, but the one that went through that accidental testing did survive.)

(I used a pile of +Evil Mad Science candle flicker LEDs for maximum indestructible lantern-ness.)
