Getting started with the ESP8266, NodeMCU and Wemos D1 Mini
After a long, work induced, hiatus away from electronics I have started up again with the ESP8266 serial of WiFi connected microprocessors. In the past I had been experimenting with sensor platforms based on an Arduino UNO and Ethernet shield. These were fi...

Crystals Go to War - 1943
One of the things that always fascinated me about radio was the ability to take discrete components and craft something that could pluck invisible radio signals out of the air. Once I learned more about electronics, some of the magic was replaced by admirat...

I found this a very useful tutorial however I had to modify the last few lines since wait() function used an integer which was not able to hold the 60000 specified.

My changes:

 // Wait 60 seconds until next update
  wait(60);

}

// Wait for a given time using the watchdog
void wait(int total_delay) {

  int number_steps = (int)(total_delay/5);
  wdt_enable(WDTO_8S);
  for (int i = 0; i < number_steps; i++){
    Serial.println (F("Waiting for 5 seconds ..."));
    delay(5000);
    wdt_reset();
  }
  wdt_disable();
}

Pros: We received complementary snacks because of the length of time we had to wait to be seated. Con: Tried to call ahead to reserve a spot for out party of eight, no answer. Perhaps the phone was dead, it certainly didn't ring while we were there ... and we waited for more than an hour and a half to be seated. Con: By the time we eventually got to order they were out of some menu items, for dessert they substituted at least one item and only mentioned they were out of the original item when we asked. Con: The food. "Wow guys, you used to be a good place to come for a meal but the last two times we've visited its been pretty damn unimpressive" The food looked like it had been prepared earlier and then re-heated before being served ... everything but the soup was dry and we only had a little of that. What they did to a steak would make a grown man cry. As Aussies we used to find Outback to be an entertaining, if a bit ridiculous, place to get a reasonable feed (Lived 25 years in Oz, never saw a single Bloomin' Onion)... but now we'll never know if other locations are better, we certainly don't feel inclined to try them out with so many other, better, places to eat in Houston. Perhaps they need to change that slogan again .... Outback Steakhouse, "No rules, just average"
