I took a little trip to the coast this weekend and stopped off at the Peter Iredale to do a little light shooting and to test out the light gathering properties of the Canon 5DMark iii. This image was captured with the moon as a backlight source casting a long shadow across the foreground of the image. I "painted" the light on the ship with a small flashlight during the exposure. I am very impressed with this camera. The glowing light on the horizon is from fishing boats. This camera really does see in the dark.

I'm not sure this amount of precision is necessary for a washing machine, but this whole article gives a good insight into Jobs' mentality and approach to things. The biography seems compelling.

(Also, this article comes to you from the future: November 14th 2011.)

Based on the average days between releases since Chrome 6, if Chrome sticks around as long as Firefox has so far, we'll have Chrome version 47 before the year 2016.

"People said they liked Pepsi, labeled M, better than Coke, labeled Q. Irritated by this, Coca-Cola did their own study and put Coke in both glasses. Again, M won the contest. It turned out it wasn't the soda; people just liked the letter M better than the letter Q."

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this. On the one hand it's a very interesting case of sousveillance where someone keeps meticulous records. On the other, it's intentionally spamming the FBI to make their job harder.
A Bangladeshi-born artist and academic is mistakenly detained at the Detroit airport. He doesn’t get mad. He gets even.

"Using your precise location, it tells you when it will precipitate and for how long. For example: It might tell you that it will start raining in 8 minutes, with the rain lasting for 15 minutes followed by a 25 minute break."

"Prof Kubiatowicz calculated that filling a 4GB Kindle to its storage limit would increase its weight by a billionth of a billionth of a gram, or 0.000000000000000001g.

This is roughly equivalent to the weight of a small virus, while the equivalent number of books – about 3,500 – would weigh approximately two tons."
