Batman is 75!
To mark the milestone 75th anniversary of DC Comics’ Batman, Warner Bros. Entertainment and DC Entertainment have revealed plans for a year-long celebration befitting the world’s most popular Super Hero. Highlights of the anniversary program, which starts today, include a new commemorative 75th anniversary Batman logo and an exclusive “Cape/Cowl/Create” art exhibit, featuring 20 contemporary artists’ interpretation of The Dark Knight’s iconic co...

So having looked at it closer, I see what is happening with the new cover photo / header – on a wide browser window the whole image is to the right and the blurred part is to the left, which has a repeat of the image from centre right only blurred. And when the browser window is reduced the whole image takes the full width and the blurred part disappears and the details it contained move below.

This does work fairly well except that the blurred part looks like it should be blurring what's underneath, yet it's not, which can look strange for certain images.

This could be fixed, though would be slightly more complex, by allowing people to upload two images if they wish – one wider image to be used on wider browser windows, that would show beneath the blurred area, and a smaller image (as current size) to be used on narrower browser windows.

If people only use one image at the current size it would behave as it does now, or if they upload just one wider image it would be cropped slightly when used on a narrow browser window.

I'm liking the smaller profile header, it did seem slightly too large previously.

I think the blurred background to the left needs a tweak as it doesn't align with the rest of the image – rather than using the portion of image underneath, it appears to use part of the image right of centre for some unknown reason!

Had to do a short post as this is a pet hate of mine, especially here on Google+ where it's ever so easy to share defaced photos.
