Why is Trampolining becoming so popular. One reason it allows you to burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour
According to the Trampoline Experts at Sky Zone "SkyRobics is a low-impact, healthy fun that combines calisthenics, core exercises and strength-building aerobics. SkyRobics is one of the most dynamic, effective and active workouts you can get!"
According to JumpSport fitness expert Steve Carver, “Trampolining reduces impact by 40 percent, it allows you to work out harder and recover faster since your body isn’t getting as beat up as it would doing impact exercises on the ground,”.
Here at Fit After 45 we want to present ways for people over 45 to stay fit and stay committed to a super healthy lifestyle. This means looking for both conventional and unconventional forms of…

This is a SPECIAL article for me because 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.
I've been bouncing a lot of my FitAfter45 ideas off his very sharp 16 year old mind and athletic body. We came up with the idea for the article while driving to the diamond for our regular Saturday morning batting practice been session.
I was telling him about a message I received from Caroline Van Luit Lomas, a friend and FitAfter45 reader. Paraphrasing - the exact wording is in the article, "Caroline wants to start working out but something is always getting in the way."
Then it came to us - we should write about how #CharlesDuhigg's book #ThePowerofHabit a book we both read and how using Charles' principles can get people to start taking action.
It's a great book which I highly recommend and it will likely make you a lot more fit than you are today. I hope you Enjoy the article.
The genesis of FitAfter45.ca was the desire to exchange ideas and share knowledge that allows athletes over 45 to maximize the effectiveness of their workouts regardless of their current athletic level. I think we have shared a…

Sylvia Takada shares her strategy for getting the most health benefits out of your fast food options.
“Any “outside” meal I eat is considered a cheat meal only because you never really know what goes into your food or where it came from,” says Sylvia Takada, Canfit Pro Trainer and Certified Healthy Weight Loss Coach….. and adds,”My two main goals that will make me feel a bit better about eating fast food is high protein and low sodium. Avoid sauce or control it by always ordering it on the side and drink plenty of water. Anything you can customize is best!”
No matter where you live, where you work or where you work out, it is inevitable that you are going to pass by some fast foods spots trying to lure you in with welcoming exteriors…

Dr. Ryan Scott has been added to the Medical Professional section of the FitAfter.ca line up.

I first met Ryan about 5 years ago and see him periodically for tune ups 🙂 Ryan makes an excellent point about workout variation. It’s great to see people who practice what they preach. Ryan has got himself in great shape and I’m a big fan of his and the entire A4A Team.

Ryan explains " Injuries have been a part of my athletic endeavors since a young age. I grew quickly and as a lanky kid had my first knee sprain at age 13. I have always used times of injury as a challenge to come back stronger. At age 18 I had a bad water skiing fall that put my back into severe spasm. It was then I first visited a chiropractor, who helped me return to health quickly. After that I knew that is what I wanted to do, so I became a chiropractor myself"

The good doctors #1 Fitness Tip - "I have also recently had a revelation on fitness. While obvious on the surface, I put it to the test, and really discovered the importance of nutrition in working out. What you fuel your body with is 90 percent of the battle. You can’t out train a bad diet."
DR. SCOTT'S BIO Dr. Ryan Scott created the A4A Therapy Clinic with the idea that all patients deserve the best care for injuries and conditions. He also believes that the best available research and treatment techniques should be…

Jay Arzadon has been featured in the Toronto Star and is the owner of http://www.arzadonfitness.com/….
I am pleased to add Jay to the Personal Trainer Section of the FitAfter45 Lineup and he was generous to offer a ton of insights for athletes over 45. Two of my Favourites:
1.Follow a program. You need to understand that when you exercise, you are applying stress to your body, the best way to get results is to work off of a structured program.
Hire a fitness coach, buy a fitness book, NOT a magazine, which will only give you a one-day workout or take the time to research online. Having a structured program and understanding how to prioritize intensity and volume is key to getting great results.
2. Quality over Quantity. Focus on the quality of the exercise movement rather than how much weight you are lifting. Am I achieving full range or motion? Am I feeling the exercise where I am supposed to? These are questions you should ask yourself while exercising.
Jay's Bio -Jay Arzadon has been a personal trainer, working within the fitness industry for more than 10 years. His focus as a trainer is on the commitment, focus and hard work it takes in order to…

Kathleen Trotter wears a lot of hats - my favourite may be the Jays hat despite their recent skid.
Enough of the bad jokes when it comes to fitness Kathleen really knows her stuff and she will shares her knowledge in her upcoming book "Finding Your Fit." Kathleen has been the featured personal trainer in the Globe and Mail’s online Fitness Basic video series for the past 5 years. She shared a ton of terrific fitness nuggets with me but my favourite was her "10 Minute Rule."
As Kathleen puts it, "Always remember that some movement is better than no movement! When you don’t want to exercise use the “10-minute rule”. Tell yourself that you have to move for a minimum of 10 minutes, but if you still want to stop after 10 minutes, you can. The rationale is that breaking the workout into chunks will make moving seem less daunting. Plus, 10 minutes of exercise is better than nothing, so if you do stop, that’s okay. Usually, once you have done 10 minutes, you will continue and finish the workout."
KATHLEEN'S BIO Kathleen Trotter is the author of the upcoming book Finding Your Fit. Kathleen has been a personal trainer and pilates specialist for almost fifteen years and a fitness writer/media expert for seven. For the…

New Article: More people text and drive than drink and drive. Texting and driving increases the chance that someone is involved in a crash by more than drinking and driving, and texting and driving is responsible for a vast amount of fatalities, specifically in teens. #indianalawyer  http://billhurst.com
