Chewy pasta that is over priced. I have had great pasta and went there after rave reviews but absolutely not worth it. Service was good and atmosphere was lively but not food.

They had a very interesting selection of pâtés and such. Our main courses were also very delicious. Parking around here is not great (is it anywhere is SF though?).

flour + water was a huge letdown for me. I had been wanting to eat here for years and years, and was so excited that i got a reservation for me and my girlfriend. the pastas were not flavorful, and the texture that i expect in a fresh, homemade pasta just wasn't there. just another disappointing italian restaurant in sf. i still don't quite get why people rave about this place.

Fresh fresh fresh pasta. I avoid the tasting menu so that I can pick what I want. I like the salumi board to start and their salads are refreshing. Get a few pastas to share and a pizza or 2. The pastas are generally small portions but great for sharing. The pizza is delicious with a fiery salty crust. And finish with the boudino. The boudino is everything. Fave dessert in the city. Yes it's not cheap but neither are more restaurants in SF. It's worth it. Love this place!

Flour + Water is one of the more authentic, Napoleon-style (thin crust) pizza's in the city. The crust may be the best in the city and their ingredients are fresh and interesting. The overall pizza experience is great. I haven't had anything else on the menu. Nice wine list. They also host events which, although I have never been to one, look like a great time. It is a nice ambiance and a a higher end restaurant.

What a let down. I was very excited about this restaurant having heard so many good things about it but it turned out to be a mediocre experience at best. Food quality: average or below. Small portions, overly salty, too much oil. Forget your authentic italian cuisine expectations- this is a pretentious, overpriced and poorly decorated place that serves food dramatically blow standard. What I hated the most was the service- obnoxious and patronizing. Never going back.
