News Update
Fernie Alpine Resort has decided to cancel the September 16/17 Bonus Weekend on the Timber Chair.
We were hoping that the wet weather forecasted for this week would help with our dry situation but unfortunately that weather has not materialized.
Now, with neighbouring areas evacuated, on alert and anxious about our region, we want to ensure our operation will not become a distraction in resources and efforts to the current active wildfires in the East Kootenays.
We hope this does not cause too much disruption for our Fernie guests and hope Fernie’s Chautauqua & Fall Fair in town this weekend will be enjoyed by all.

Fernie Alpine Resort will be open this weekend for hiking & biking!

On SATURDAY, the Elk & Timber Chairlifts will operate from 10:30am – 4:30pm.

Timber Side
Biking on the Timber side will be as per usual – minimal closures may be in effect.
Hiking trails that will be open on the Timber side include the Lily Loop, Siberia Ridge, Pika Pass and White Pass. Polar Peak, Lost Boys Pass, and Mammoth Droppings will be closed.
Lost Boys Café will be open.

Elk Side
Biking on the Elk Side will be as per usual – minimal closures may be in effect.
Hiking trails on the Elk Side will have some closures, mainly to restrict access to the provincial park:
- Cedar Bowl will be closed
- Summer Road will be closed above the Lizard Observation Deck
Nature Bob’s Interpretive Centre will be open.

And a reminder to everyone that there is a full campfire ban in effect, and there is absolutely NO smoking on the mountain.

We will be open on Sunday as well and will post further details as they are confirmed.
Thanks to everyone for their patience and consideration.
