So you're at work. You're on fire: Getting things done efficiently, coming up with popular proposals for your company moving forward, that cute guy/girl from your office complimented you on your outfit, your lunch was amazing, people have been breaking out into song and dance around you all day like your life is a Bollywood film, or if you haven't seen a Bollywood film, like in (500) Days of Summer after Joseph Gordon-Levitt gets laid by Zooey Deschanel. All in all, you are having an awesome day. My question is, why are you even at work to have such an awesome day when you should have blown it off completely to watch the filming of Doctor Who in Central Park and automatically had a day 1000x better than what you are already having.

Just got hired to write articles for Geeks Have Landed. First article should be going up some time today but for all #technology #gaming and #generalnerds I suggest you take a peek, it is fairly new but there is already some pretty awesome content.

I'm on a writing marathon. I have so far written 8,000+ words in the last 17 hours over the course of two complete stories.

Each of the stories I am writing are suggestions by users on Reddit and I am writing a short story, poem, whatever for every suggestion. Have a story you want to hear? Go ahead and post your idea on the thread and I assure you I will get to yours.

Once I have finished I am going to be editing the stories so they are nice and clean and pretty and then compile them into an ebook and selling them on Amazon. Don't care enough to pay me money for my stories... well fine, I will be leaving the stories up on the blog for-ev-er so you can read them as you please anyhow. The stories I have finished the rough drafts of can be viewed here:

If I don't get any further suggestions there will be at minimum three more stories posted by the end of today or, perhaps early tomorrow morning. Huzzah!
I tried this initially in AskReddit but the post refused to go through so here it is now. Alright Reddit, I am broke and I mean the type of broke whe...

The fuck happened to G+?

Exactly, G+'s niche, at least in the beginning, will be in connecting people with similar interests. When Google realizes this and starts making decisions based on it, then they will have a product people will use. G+ could turn into a great platform for people to do stuff together- the tools are almost already here. They just need to be polished and put behind a good UI (which this new refresh almost brings us)

Koushik Dutta (Koush) originally shared:
ClockworkMod Tether Alpha

Over the last month, I've been working on a new app. Tether Alpha is a USB[2] tether solution for Mac, Windows, and Linux that allows you to use your phone's data connection to get internet access on your desktop or laptop.

ClockworkMod Tether does not require root on your phone and does not require a separate tethering plan. Tether should work with any carrier and phone, and is not blockable or detectable by carriers[1]. To get around the root requirement on your phone, Tether will need to install a virtual network adapter on your computer; so there is a PC side install. [3]

I'm looking for meaningful feedback in the following areas:

1) Did you have problems installing it or getting it working?
2) How is your download and latency once everything is set up?

The UI is pretty rough, the icons, and general app design are not final. I am just looking to make sure the underlying services all work properly.

Download links:

Linux: [4]

The above links should automatically install the Android portion if you have USB debugging enabled on the phone, but if something goes awry, here's the Android APK:

I am intentionally not providing any installation instructions, because I feel that if the app can't be set up without installation instructions, I have failed to make it easy enough to use. ;)
So please provide any feedback you may have if you have a hiccup during installation! (The final market released product will have instructions though)

This version will time bomb on January 7th. I'll release new versions before then, so if the app stops working, just check back here.

Thanks all!

[1] It functions as a proxy, and not as a NAT/masquerade solution that other tether solutions use. Though carriers can still check for http user agent string, but I have an idea to work around that. They typically check the TTL for desktop values. All usual carrier data charges and quotas will apply, but you will not need a separate tethering plan.

[2] I'm working on getting Bluetooth working as well.

[3] I wish I could not require a PC side installation, but it is simply not possible if the phone is not rooted.

[4] There is no UI for the Linux interface. Just sudo linux/ after extracting the zip.

You know you've hit it big when your small-circulation local newspaper uses an online comment you make in the print edition as a letter to the editor. Not 100% happy with the final print edit but when do I get my book deal?

Was at my local bookstore today and decided it would be good to share some of the awesome photos that they have just stapled to the book shelves.

I've never been that far north! Well, maybe. I was at the edge of Lake Superior once, but in Michigan. It does sound pretty special though; I actually have several friends who live in that area. :-)

There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.
