Love the hotel....but everytime I am there, I get the worst service in the bar. The waitresses act like they do not want to be there and that you are bothering them. I try to sit at the bar (the bartenders are fantastic). Just goes to show how one bad apple can spoil the bunch....

The beds are always great at Westin's. The rooms are a little tight for $180 but the decor and amenities are clean and new. The urban grill has a solid menu for a hotel resturant. Turkey sandwich - heaping with fresh turkey and avocado + fries $12

After a less than stellar recent stay at another high end hotel chain, I was dreading this weekend at the Westin. If only I had known! The check in was super fast and friendly. The room was spotless and well appointed. The pillows were goose down, and the bed was covered with a spotless white duvet cover over a down comforter. I never heard a noise from outside of my room, even through an adjoining door where I saw a family with several small kids coming out. With my free premier membership, my water bottles and Internet were free (super fast connections in the rooms!) So why not 5 stars? The TV was awful. Small, with a bad picture and very few included channels. And my in-room phone was not working when I arrived, necessitating a visit to the lobby. Small issues, but worth a star. I would 100% recommend staying there for a staycation weekend!

Second trip in May 2014 (4 stars): The rooms are comfortable (can't beat the Westin's Heavenly Bed) and the decor hides the smallness of the space available. The pool is small and all the umbrellas looked broken when we were there. The staff were very helpful throughout and the location is excellent for shopping. The $150 rate was about right. ---- First trip in 2012 (1-star): Arriving off a plane at 2am we were told the rooms weren't available due to an "engineering problem". The front desk lady had a machine-like capability to refuse to elaborate further. We were moved to the Radisson down the road which is a dismal downgrade. Although I appreciated that they comp'd the room, there was no attempt made to give me any advanced notice of a problem. The substituted hotel should have been been of the same quality (instead it's more like a DoubleTree). Not impressed.

I am rating the Westin based on the bar and happy hour. They have some pretty good happy hour specials that include tasty snacks like the sliders. The bar is part of the Westin lobby so it is open and airy. Sometimes their wait staff is not as attentive as they should be. What you are generally going to see is people from out of town and a few locals for the happy hour. Not a bad place, but not fantastic either. Although I live in Austin, I have now stayed at the Westin a few times. I changed my review to 4 stars after staying there. They have a great facility and the staff really takes care of you. The rooms are modern and appear to be new. Well done over all.

The Westin would be fine for a normal stay. However, avoid this at all costs for business! Our conference was held here and the WIFI was $15 a day to purchase for a regular guest! If that was purchased it was extremely slowwwww. The WIFI for our conference room for two days would have costed more than my hotel room for the two nights I was there. They were unwilling to work with us on the price for the night before our conference but worked with a group member on his night after the conference (ours was a tues. night his was a weekend!!!) They spend a lot of time giving nice appearances and the rooms are well maintained- however they use extremely cheap toilet paper, seems weird for a hotel that charges over $300 a night. On to what they did well: their front counter was always friendly and there to help once we got there and the food was good. Overall, I understand that every business needs to make money, however I think the value for the price we paid or were asked to pay was extremely poor.
