Amber alert
Poplar Bluff, MO Amber Alert! Just heard about it on the local talk radio station here in Columbia, MO. In case you can't look at the link (mobile device, lazy, whatever):

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) - Police have told Region 8 News that a child has gone missing and could be in the company of a registered sex offender.

According to investigators, Abigail Berthoff, 5, was reported missing from her bedroom on the 2100 block of Wood Street early Wednesday morning and may be in the company of 46-year-old Jeffery Dean Shelton, of Poplar Bluff.

Abigail is said to have dark hair and a medium complexion.

Shelton is described as a 6 feet tall, white male, weighing 170 lbs. with green eyes and brown hair. He was last seen driving a silver 2001 Nissan Pathfinder with Missouri tags reading PJ8 Z5M, and he was last known to be living on Lela Street in Poplar Bluff.

Police said he does have a scar above his left eyebrow and another on his right knee. He also has a tattoo on his left arm.

Shelton is a registered sex offender. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Shelton was arrested in 1990 for the kidnapping, rape, and sodomy of a 12-year-old girl in Fort Hood, Texas.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Abigail Berthoff or Jeffery Shelton, please call your local law enforcement agency, or contact the Poplar Bluff Police Department at (573) 686-8649.
