Very good food!! Great for people looking for some awesome Mexican food and cheap items. Very similar to your typical outdoor flea market, but in the heart of Chicago. Family friendly and a great place to spend a Sunday morning in!

The best tacos in Chicago is Ruby's on maxwell St on Sundays and they don't have a restaurant.

VERY authentic!! Rubi's is great! tortillas are made fresh in front of you, and lines pretty long. Market is great to walk through.

If you are looking for a dozen socks for $2 or a portable CD player or just looking for the best Mexican food in the south loop, then look now further fella you found it! You have to walk by this place to experience, much history here and this is the new location that moved from the Maxwell street loccation.

This is what everyone in Chicago should be doing on Sunday mornings. The streets are packed with vendors and you can find all kinds of stuff. There are many vendors selling knock-off sports jerseys or cheap socks and underwear but there are hidden gems if you're willing to look. I have found some very cool items for my home from framed prints taken out of restaurants to crystal decanters for alcohol. Don't forget to bargain with the vendors but don't low ball them, you just look tacky. SKIP BRUNCH and get Mexican food here. I've tried most of the places here but my absolute favorite is Manolo's. They smash and fry the tortillas on the spot, as you wait. The wait is long but get the quesadilla (Tacos are good but you don't get cheese on them so order it as a quesadilla). Steak, carnitas, chicken and even the lingua(beef tongue) are all great. It was actually voted the second best taco in Chicago from the Red Eye last summer. First place was actually another Maxwell Street Market vendor and this was against actual standing restaurants. It is worth making a trip to and you will want to go back just for the food.

Now that the weather is nice, I'm looking forward to coming here often! Shopping wise, the market has everything you didn't know you needed. But, the food, the food is what you need to come here! Great street food from a variety of vendors. It's only on Sundays (get their early) and I would also make sure you have cash. Some vendors can do digital payments, but you're better off with cash in hand. Parking is kind of tough in this area, so you might want to bus it or train it too.
