Keep it coming Michael! You followed your dream, your inspiration, and now some guy with 5 kids who lives in the midwestern portion of the United States is listening and subscribed to you! Keep checking in and I'll do likewise!

Jesus that was a great video. I don't wish to descend into hyperbole here and sound like I'm blowing smoke up your ass but I kinda' see you guys as "America's Family" right now, with all the quirks and foibles and hurts that that entails along with all the beauty and greatness too. All the economic hardship and anxiety and addictions that life in these times can bring...and yet you lovely people rise above every time. I'm in a very similar situation in some ways (I have 5 kids) and I glean literally GALLONS of wisdom from these videos, particularly the most recent ones. And my God, Andrea is just a fucking saint, a wise and remarkable soul. You guys are all terrific, really. I know how hard it can be and how much WORK it takes to make it all function but dammit that's the stuff of BEING ALIVE.

Um...see ya' tomorrow!

I almost can't talk about this film without getting a little choked up. It's a cluster of sad people who are trapped in these personas they've made for themselves. I don't think a better film has yet to be made about this thing we call AMERICA, where fame, politics, music, dreams fulfilled, dreams shattered...gah! "Nashville" is what it means to be alive.

I must point out the most moving moment for me - - when Haven Hamilton's son, who is probably the most decent human in the movie, decides to let his guard down and sing one of his own compositions for Opal, the terrifyingly shallow BBC journalist. His song is sweet and heartfelt and honest, everything you'd hope for in a song - - and before he's done, she leaps up, clearly not even paying attention, and dashes off to talk to some "Famous" person.

It's this tiny moment in a film made up of tiny moments that add up to a towering statement.

Ummm...can ya' tell I dig this flick a little? :D

+Ryan Chattaway Oh man, yeah, Scott Glenn. I don't think he has more than two lines in the whole thing and yet he's this sort of doomed guardian angel...doomed, I guess, to know that all his efforts were never enough.

God almighty. What national treasures, both Altman AND this movie!

Interestingly, the writer, Joan Tewkesbury, didn't do much before or since. I think she may have co-written Thieves Like Us (which I also adore) and then some small TV work later. But when you think of the writer of something of this magnitude suddenly fallen silent after....it's as if she said everything she had to say about "The World" with this one picture.

Which, i guess, in hindsight, I completely understand.

Yes, do proceed with your Nashville Series! I'll be front row, center, sir!

WOW! How did you get such a FLAWLESS copy of this?! This is amazing! Thank you so much for posting this! I audio recorded this thing when I was 8 years old on a Montgomery Ward cassette recorder. The tapes have degraded terribly. To actually SEE this again...well, in short, friend, you've made my day. Maybe even my month!!!

I know.  I wish there was something else that I could do other than deal with these type of problems.

I'm saddened by the negative reactions to this video. Once again, you are doing remarkable work here Paul. And I have nothing but respect for Chase. Contrary to what is shown at times, you guys have a great relationship that's WORTH fighting for. I think further on down the line, all this work you guys are putting in to "making it work" will pay enormous dividends. Thank you both for sharing this. It's the stuff of life.

There's a great line (in an otherwise pretty awful movie) in Star Trek 5. A rogue vulcan (Spock's half brother, actually!) who is like a faith healer, can, with a quick mind-meld, "remove your pain." Everyone he encounters falls for his snake oil but Kirk says, in a rather moving scene, "Damn it, Bones, you're a doctor. You know that pain and guilt can't be taken away with a wave of a magic wand. They're the things we carry with us, the things that make us who we are. If we lose them, we lose ourselves. I don't want my pain taken away! I need my pain!"

That's what I see here, Paul. Great sadness with what you've lost but you've turned that pain on its ear, owned it, and it's defined who you are now. I don't want to be one of those people who says, "clouds/silver linings," because that's mostly bullshit but...

....your pain has really brought you to a really beautiful place, you're heading for a place of peace (such as the obviously emotional mediation you cited early in the video with your kids).

I'm so happy for you, truly.

(by the way, your hometown is stunning! I also am blessed to live in a small town in the midwest (Wisconsin, to be exact) and I wouldn't trade it for anything)

To aid the cause, I shall use the phrase "recharge our bodderies" as often as possible in order to get it into the national vernacular ASAP!
