"Google Apps for Business" is great. Google+ is struggling.
I wish they would combine the two, and allow businesses to create their own internal, private social network. Only accessible by users in the domain using Google Apps. A "VPSN" if you will - Virtual Private Social Network.

They're not going to beat Facebook in the public social network space. But they could totally dominate the Corporate Social Network space.

I'm working with a company who wants to enable collaboration and communication in a manner that everyone is familiar with. Which means Facebook is the default. We can create a private group there, and (almost) everyone already has a personal account. But we don't want to trust our work-related content to Facebook, nor do we want to blur our personal lives with our work activities.

I'd much rather take advantage of the fact that all users are already on their own Google Apps for Business domain (everyone uses GMail, Calendar, Docs), and they all have easy access to Google+ already. But I can't, because (1) There are no private groups on G+, and (2) there are no virtual private social networks.

This is your opportunity, Google. IMO.

There aren't "Private groups" on G+ per se but it's easy enough for people to agree upon a given Circle Title in advance and announce to which "Circle" it was shared within the post.

So, Facebook is forcing me to change my extension's name and web site because it includes the word "Facebook". I wonder if Google will do the same if I use BetterGooglePlus.com (which I own)? On the contrary, it seems like they have welcomed extension authors and not threatened extensions like "Google+ Tweaks", despite Google being in the name.

I seriously doubt Facebook is going to change their position. Spam was just an excuse. Yours is not the first add-on that adjusted or otherwise helped users work around Facebook's interface that's had its "Page" taken down arbitrarily. Meanwhile, without commenting turned on there is no way for your users to communicate with you. I only suggested using G+ as a place to run a page as a stop-gap means of communicating with those of us who use both of which there are many. I also sent you a pvt message here but thought this, though poorly placed, might get your attention as well, which it did! Best of luck with facebook! Hope I'm wrong!

Facebook gets asynchronous following ala G+, as well as control over exactly what content you want to see from each person. In addition to the recent privacy changes, I'd say Facebook is moving fast to pass G+ in terms of features. Personally, I've all but given up on G+ and check it maybe once a week. Facebook wins. For now.

Not sure why people are saying Google doesn't have groups in G+, they don't need them -- Google already has "Google Groups", so why duplicate? Everything in Google is connected... just look at the top of your page, anywhere you are in a Google product. You can get there.

I read that there was a "tweaker" (written by a 3rd party like Matt) for G+, but then Google made changes to G+ that made it either obsolete or broke it, not sure which as I didn't use it. I think it might be best for Matt to concentrate on BFB for those who may be staying there, then when G+ is more evolved and not changing a lot, then Matt can do his thing here. If it even needs it.

Looks like more changes to Google+ have again broken +Jerome Dane's excellent "Google+ Tweaks" script (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/106166).

It's painful to go back to default G+. Not nearly as usable as with Tweaks running. I can't even handle G+ without being able to quick-mute Scoble posts! :)

+Stan Vandiver What is "Tweaks version ... 1.0"? Is this something else I need to install to make Google+ Tweaks work? I can't see anything in the notes for the script or the Google extension regarding this.

Why can't I run multiple versions of Firefox at once? Frustrating.
Start FF11. Test. Close. Start FF10. Test Close. Start FF3.6. Test. Close.
Make changes.

This is a new Javascript Pub/Sub library I've written. There are some libraries out there already, but they are either over-simple or tied to libraries like jQuery.
This is simple, yet powerful.
If you're writing javascript for a web app/site, you should definitely consider using the Pub/Sub pattern. And when you do, check out my library ;)

So, almost 200 new people have put me in their circles in the last day or two. Have I been hit by circle-bots? Or how did you all find me all at once? :)

Which do you check first on a normal day? Facebook or Google+?

For me, I only get around to checking Google+ after I have taken care of everything else - including Facebook.

Time... why is there so little of it? Does anyone else find themselves always having so many things they want to do that they simply can't squeeze it all in? Any brilliant ideas about how to do more things in the same amount of time that has worked for you?

I actually blame myself. I pack a lot of things into my life because there's just so many things I want to do and I have so many ideas. In addition to having a good full-time job, I'm a husband and father of two girls (11 and 2) that are my #1 priority, I develop and maintain Better Facebook, I try to respond to the hundreds of support emails and posts I get every week from that, I'm running 40+ miles a week in training for a marathon 6 weeks from now, I'm doing some house projects like painting and tiling, I have a few programming ideas that I'm playing with on the side, I'm exploring a potential business partnership on a web application company, and of course I try to get together with friends and family as often as possible and relax. Oh, and I still try to sleep 6 hours a day ;)

I love having the opportunity to do so many things and be surrounded by so many good people. And, in general, I like to stay busy and I love to create.

But man, sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming. Maybe I need to learn how to focus even better. If a person spreads themselves too thin, they can't succeed in anything, right?

And now to the point... if you're wondering why I haven't created Better Google+ yet, or why Better Facebook gets updated sporadically, that's why :)

Acceptance is the key. You have to know you can do a lot but you can't do it all. Focus is of course important but other than drugs to improve attention and fake your need for sleep the facts remain, you can't do it all. Someone else once said, no one about to die said "Geez, I wish I had worked another few days."

Decide what is most important to you, and put those things first. This of course is prioritizing, in that list be sure to put time with your family, and time by yourself. Make lists of the things you don't have time for now, when you finish or achieve things on your priority list, move something up. That is about the best you can do...revisit the lists on a regular basis as priorities will change. Be thankful you can do all you can and don't sweat the small stuff.
