You don't come to Mike's for the food. You come for the beer. And the food somehow winds up in your mouth. Cheap pitchers! This is our go-to pregaming spot if we want to drink on the cheap in a public setting. There's outdoor seating on nice days, and its prime location provides great views of the weirdos of Davis Square. The menu is extensive, and I'm always pretty overwhelmed by all the options. Everything I've tried had just been all right. It obviously tastes better with beer. They deem that the pastas are "homemade" but based on taste, I doubt it. I've also ordered the "small" chicken parm calzone, and that baby provided a filling dinner as well as my next 2 lunches. Be forewarned that a calzone is a commitment.. it takes about 20 minutes to cook. So don't down your beer too fast while you wait. The place can get crowded and chaotic, and the service isn't the friendliest. Especially when you show up with a drunk, hungry friend 15 minutes before closing time on a weekend. They will deny your friend most of the items she tries to order because "there isn't enough time to prepare them." And then they will kick you out before she's done scarfing her slice down. With that said, I consider this place a Davis institution. Cheap beer and hot, carb-loaded dishes are sometimes all you want. And Mike's delivers them with character.

3 stars might be too few, but I can't bring myself to do 4. Its a good group gathering spot, great quick late night food and really informal. But the counter ladies are kind of terse and the blaring loud speaker announcing whose food is ready is kind of over kill. Its impossible to move around in there if a game is on, I've been known to go out through the open window to the side walk and in the front door to get something. But I do love their pastas and their lobster roll, fries are great, especially waffle fries. Cheap place to get drunk and have some snacks at the very least. Also bathrooms are a mess and I dread having to pee there.

The food here is decent, but not great. The prices are average, and they have a Sunday thru Thursday pizza and a pitcher deal for $14 (add $2 if you want a premium beer) The biggest plus is the patio that is dog friendly. And being right in the heart of Davis, it makes for some good people watching.

basically average in terms of food, service and decor; but it is a great place to meet up with friends in davis. it's right in the center and very casual. the food is sufficient and sometimes surprisingly delicious. serves the purpose.

Hands down the best place in Davis. Love the pizza, the 32oz beers, and the prices. Keep up the good work Mike's.

this is a pretty basic restaurant that offers tons of choices. the food is very good, but not excellent. they have an extensive beer menu. the place is cheap and worth it for a stop in. service has been a little slow for me, but it's a chill atmosphere, so i didn't mind.

Nothing but absolute love for Mike's! They have THE BEST PASTA around! The gnocci is absolutely divine and their linguini alfredo is to die for. I've never tried the pizza, I just keep coming back for pasta pasta pasta! EVERYTHING I have tried has been amazing. Even their simple scampi is well done with lots of flavor and not too oily. Also everything comes with crisp tasty garlic bread. Service is fantastic (just grab your food when they call your name!) and they even have cheep drinks!
