The Sunday October 7 First Sunday Arts Festival has been cancelled, due to the high chance of rain. The next First Sunday Event is the Holiday Show at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on November 4th from noon to 4pm.

A Fun Thing to Do This July Holiday Weekend…

Enjoy Annapolis’ First Sunday Arts Festival … Sunday, July 1 Noon to 5pm

 Annapolis is a great place to be for our Nation’s birthday, and has many celebration events going on for Independence weekend, including the First Sunday Arts Festival which begins at 12 noon. For five hours – from noon until five -- a portion of historic West Street above State Circle is closed to cars and transforms into a fun festival of live music, dance, art and crafts. The Festival, which continues around the corner into Whitmore Park, is free and a family affair for all ages. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon outdoors surrounded by talented performers, musicians, and over 100 booths of arts and crafts. Plus several of the West Street restaurants become outdoor cafes with perfect seating to watch the fun and people go by!

 Live Entertainment on West Street …
Bens Bones with Dan Haas – accomplished young singer/songwriter who blends elements of pop, rock, and soul with standout vocal performances has appeared across the country and will perform -- from 12-noon – 1:30 p.m. in Wiseman Park.
 Tom Lagana Quartet - a modern jazz group whose eclectic compositions range from jazz to Afro-Cuban will perform from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. – Wiseman Park
 Footworks – an exuberant fusion of live music, comedy, singing, and a dazzling array of percussive dance forms rooted in different cultures – performing at 2:00 p.m. in the Stan & Joe’s side lot.
 In Whitmore Park
 Szefin – their original music is all about Roots, Rock and Country with great rhythm and strong vocals - 1:00 to 3:00 at Whitmore Park
 The Pam Ortiz Band – the art of the melody & phrase are key in this singer’s writing. Listen as her stories come alive with the help of these talented musicians – 3:30 to 5:00 at Whitmore Park

First Sunday Arts Festival Opens its 11th Season May 6!

After a cold winter we are all excited that the warmer weather has finally arrived! And with it brings the 11th season of Annapolis’ Arts Festival which runs the first Sunday of each month from May through October. For five hours – from noon until five -- a portion of historic West Street above State Circle is closed to cars and transformed into a fun festival of live music, dance, art and crafts. The Festival, which continues around the corner into Whitmore Park, is free and a family affair for all ages. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon outdoors surrounded by talented performers, musicians, and over 100 booths of arts and crafts. Plus several of the West Street restaurants become outdoor cafes with perfect seating to watch the fun and people go by!

Performing on West Street during the Festival …
• Ashley Forrest - 23-year old Nashville recording artist has been performing throughout the mid-Atlantic region since she was three! Noon to 1:30.
• Latif & Banat Middle Eastern Dance Troupe -- entertains you with belly dancing & other choreographed routines – from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. in Stan & Joe’s side lot.
• Rob Levit Trio –has appeared nationwide and creates a seamless mix of jazz, world, classical and funk music -- from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in Wiseman Park.
Performing at the Calvert Street Stage
• T.K. and the Minor Delusion - They deliver a mix of original and rarely covered tunes that defies categorical genre-- from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on Calvert Street.

In your Labor Day Holiday Plans!
In September your summer activities begin to wind down as you realize that vacations are over and the daylight hours are getting shorter even though the thermometer is still reading high temperatures! But wait, summer can’t end before we all celebrate one more landmark holiday: Labor Day! And this year, Annapolis’ First Sunday Art Festival falls right before Labor Day on September 2nd. If you are in or near Annapolis, plan on making this outdoor, fun Art Festival part of your holiday plans.
First Sunday is a festival that celebrates many forms of art – with live music, entertainment, and over 100 booths of art, jewelry, house wares, accessories and so much more. It is a fun-filled, outdoor, free, family affair for all ages. And since West Street is closed to cars from Church Circle to Calvert Street during the Festival, several restaurants become outdoor cafes with perfect seating to watch the fun and people go by! The Festival fun begins at noon and goes until 5:00 p.m. – a full day of fun for everyone in your family.
 
Live Entertainment on West Street …
Studio 180 -- will perform aerial dance routines from noon to 5:00 p.m. in Stan and Joe’s side lot. This is a studio of many dance disciplines from ballet and tap to aerial.
Jazz Band Masterclass, with Jeff Antoniuk-- will play from noon until 3:00 p.m. in Wiseman Park. Saxophonist Jeff Antoniuk is an internationally respected jazz musician and composer.
Annapolis Junction Big Band -- will perform from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in Wiseman Park. Your hometown Big Band plays all the great swing standards.
 
Around the Corner in Whitmore Park:
Melissa Cox Trio – From Celtic Fusion to Trip Folk, World to acoustic electronic, rock to classical choir, Melissa Cox is an old soul with a new sound - from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

· Sparks, Raymond and McCoy – these locals play an acoustic mix of rock and folk – from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in Wiseman Park
· Mahal Maria May: Ms. Maryland Senior America 2012 will be strolling the festival all day and performing the Hula
Around the Corner At Whitmore Park:
· William Pozo-Zarate – composes and performs traditional Andean music. from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Annapolis Shakespeare Company – enjoy strolling snippets of upcoming productions – West Street throughout the day.
Val Nebbia Band – a fresh and innovative folk group with profound lyrics and electric vocals – from noon to 1: p.m. in Wiseman Park
Unified Jazz Ensemble – A local favorite, the UJE, as they go by, bring a creative trio of the area’s finest jazz musicians together — from 3:15 – 4:45 p.m. in Wiseman Park.
We are going to have some fun on West and Calvert Streets.
So bring your friends, family and friendly pets.
