Woodpecker at ISO 20,000

- and no, that's not a typo. I was testing out my new NIkon D500 and wanted to push the ISO way past my comfort level to see if it really could produce usable images above 10,000 ISO.

Before I travel overseas - I decided to give the new camera body a real test in low level light conditions. So I set it at Auto ISO and capped the ISO at 20,000 as the maximum. This was one of the handheld shots that I took at 20,000 and I was stunned to see that it turned out as well as it did. It is straight out of the camera - no noise reduction used whatsoever.

Is it the sharpest photo I took? Absolutely not. But it showed me that I can definitely shoot in lower light conditions than ever before...and that's very encouraging.
