Owlsome news, you guys! After being admitted to our Wildlife Center with a pretty bad wing injury, this Red-phase screech owl is healing up nicely & was able to be moved to our Small Flight Aviary today. He should be ready to return to the wild in about one more month!

BREAKING: This cat & her 4 kittens were just brought to us this morning after they were found in a box beside an industrial dumpster in Lawrenceville. They were thrown away & left to die. Two kind construction workers found them & brought them to our shelter for care. One told us, "I just cant stand to ever see an animal suffer." In Pittsburgh, our construction workers may be as tough as steel, but their hearts are made of gold. Thankfully, mom & her kittens appear to be okay.

From trash can to triumph! Last year, Oscar was left for dead in a locked garbage can with a severe neck injury that was caused by an embedded collar. Our medical team worked tirelessly to save him & find him the best home. Oscar's story is incredible, but he's just one of the animals we strive to care for every day. Help us come to their rescue. Adopt. Donate. Volunteer. Together, we can save lives!

The Day of Giving is THIS Thursday, October 3rd. Because of folks like you, $46,461 was raised to fund our services on last year's Day of Giving. In fact, these donations helped to provide 6 months of food for the animals in our care! Every donation from $25 - $1,000 will be partially matched by the Pittsburgh Foundation. This Thursday, please open your heart to animals in need. Donate to our Shelter or Wildlife Rehabilitation Center on www.pittsburghgives.org.

The best part: Every donation of $50 or more made to us through www.pittsburghgives.org on Thursday, October 3rd will be eligible for a FREE adoption!

PA Wildlife has a new challenge. House Bill 1576 proposes great changes to how a species can be added to the Endangered Species List in PA. Animals on this list receive help with habitat management, field studies, & other conservation efforts in order to maintain their numbers. This Bill seeks to introduce several unneeded steps to the process of adding a species to the list. These additional procedures will take away precious time & the potential of millions of dollars in federal funding from animals already in peril. Please contact your state legislator & tell them to vote "NO" on House Bill 1576.

Click to https://secure.sierraclub.org/site/Advocacy?cmd=display&page=UserAction&id=11921 to email your legislator or look them up at http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/
