A wonderful bookstore with a unique atmosphere. Always a pleasure to visit with the most helpful and friendly staff I have found anywhere. It feels like a part of the old Dublin and a real treasure in the city centre.

From the outside, this bookstore looks beautiful. Inside however...well, it looks cheap. Bookstores these days need to be something special, or they will die. Nobody likes Amazon... The owners of Hodges Figgis should seek to emulate, in my opinion, the style of : Hatchards (London), Daunt Books (London) or Akateeminen Kirjakauppu (Helsinki). A.K is a modernist Aalto masterpiece, but the other 2 are similar in appearance to H.F. A lot of stores in Dublin look wonderful from the outside....but inside are furnished or laid out in a very cheap, shoddy manner - which is a pity! Retailers in Dublin should visit cities of a similar size for inspiration - Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki etc.

Great shop, could spend forever here, just wish there were a few more chairs dotted about, but then they would have to get rid of some books.... so scrap that ! Best bookstore in the city centre

If I could give this shop 10 stars I would , love it, love it, love it, the staff are brilliant they are most helpful and nothing is a problem, they also very helpful to us poor college students. They sell the most amazing books and with a push will give great recommendations.

Dublin has a rich literary tradition and this place is one of the last bastions of that culture still around. Much as we all love Amazon, you can't beat a wander around this book store. The staff are insanely well informed. It's particularly good for children's books. They've also got seats plonked around and no one seems to really mind if you sit down and browse a while. Before buying, of course.

Pricey. But so worth visiting, or just hanging around. Excellent interior, quite good selection of books, friendly staff. Not so friendly prices :D
