In many companies, it takes a lot of work to draft a policy and get it approved. Individuals have to make a commitment to get a policy written, and make the time to write content. Committees have to meet, edit and re-edit the content until it meets stakeholders’ needs, and revise until it meets the standards of the corporate brand. Sometimes it’s a wonder any policies get written at all!

But this isn’t the end of the job. The policy has to be distributed throughout the organization to all the employees expected to comply with it. This may be as simple as putting it onto a few file shares, but often involves distributing it to managers in every nook and cranny of the company and asking them to distribute it to their direct reports. Who has the time?
