It's been a long time since I had salmon patties. This recipe looks perfect with oatmeal instead of bread crumbs. I will definitely try this.
I have a confession to make.  My husband and I had never eaten a salmon patty before.  EVER.  We both love salmon so it seemed like it was time to branch out and try something new. I made these and we were both surprised at h...

frugal homesteader, shepherdess, dairy maid
Introduction
My family lives a frugal life on a small farm in Northern Michigan. I enjoy providing for many of our needs with items grown or produced on our farmstead. Repurposing, reusing & finding ways to save money, time & energy are part of our everyday life.
My daughter & I are scandalized by how the nation’s food supply is becoming corrupted & contaminated by chemicals, antibiotics & GMOs. Not only do we prefer to eliminate this bad food from our own diet, we strive to feed our pets & livestock no alfalfa, soy, corn or cottonseed meal due to GM contamination. We use herbal wormers in place of chemicals, give no vaccines & try natural treatments in lieu of antibiotics.
Another goal is to develop a model homestead that is efficient, sustainable and easy to maintain for a person without a great deal of physical strength or someone advancing in years. Focusing on the types of plants and animals that thrive in our conditions eliminates expensive inputs and the frustration of battling against nature. Because we don't own a tractor, I'm particularly interested in discovering alternative ways of accomplishing ordinary farm work without the use of machinery.
Won't you join me in a quest to live comfortably and frugally on limited resources.
