When my cats are about to walk over my keyboard and I want to protect my shell against any commands they might type, I type "cat<ENTER>". That way their feline keystrokes just echo back. Never has a command been more aptly named!

Tips to improve your website security, from the web's common sense:

1. Make up a weird, hard-to-understand rule or restriction about how the user must construct their password. The more arcane, the better.
2. Repeat 1 until you feel sufficiently secure (recommended: 8 or more rules)
3. Ask the user not to write down the password anywhere. That always works.
4.  Since passwords will be, by design, impossible to remember, include a "Forgot my password" option in your login page.
5. When the user clicks it, send their password back in clear text by email. Email is safe. And after all, you've already added enough security with (1) and (2).
6. In the event your site is compromised, do several additional iterations of (1) and (2), because that's where the problem lies.
