After spending a considerable amount of money on a desktop PC, when the item was delivered it was in fact a completely different model. I contacted Laptops Direct immediately and explained the problem. I was told that under NO circumstances do they arrange for returns to be collected. They sent me an email with a link to 'print out' a returns label and then physically take the item to a courier of their choice who would then return it. In the meantime, Laptops direct who had collected payment immediately that the order was taken would hold the correct item until they had received the incorrect model back. If there was no damage they would then arrange to send out the replacement. Being disabled, it was impossible for me to take the item anywhere, which was the main reason I ordered online and paid extra for the 'Next Day' delivery option. After 4 days of e-messages and telephone calls I eventually persuaded them to arrange collection and a week later the correct machine was delivered to me. However, when I opened the box, the keyboard and mouse were completely missing, there was virtually NO packing around the machine which was in a much too larger box, Screws were undone and the side panel had not been put on correctly, which meant that the security tape on the back of the machine was ripped. All in all I was incredibly disappointed both with the service and the way in which the call handlers & managers dealt with the situation. I would advise anyone considering purchasing a machine that they go else where - even if errors are few and far between (as I was told on the phone by the manager), their complaints handling and facilities leave you as a customer feeling completely and utterly let down!
