I made a reservation for 9 at 1:30 for lunch. We were told immediately that there was no soup of the day and no knishes. Not a problem, though the menu was already very limited dairy menu. Ordered 4 pizza bagels but there were only 2 plain bagels left to make them from. No problem we can have it on sesame or poppy. No dice only 2 onion bagels left to make them from. I got falafel and humus - 3 frozen falafel balls with what seemed to be canned sour humus. The quesadilla arrived on a whole wheat tortilla which should have been noted in the menu.. The nachos were doritos with liquid cheese and that's it. The fruit smoothies weren't made from real fruit, but some kind of "liquid", we were told. Could it get any worse? yes, the food arrived, one plate every 10 minutes so that no one ate together. What a disaster! We were told "well, this is a cafe and we do most of our business in the morning". Then why accept a reservation for 9 for lunch? That's what I told the owner when she asked why there was no tip. Also because I was the one who kept running in to get the drinks, napkins etc. My apologies to Yael for the lousy birthday party. Luckily she and her friends took everything in better spirits than her mother.

Terrific downtown Baltimore kosher restaurant! Went there for breakfast/brunch and loved it. Delicious bagels, awesome blondies, great omelette and smoothies. Cozy atmosphere. Took the water taxi from the inner harbor and walked up Ann St. to get there. I recommend making a stop at the Van Gogh Cafe a regular part of your Baltimore city adventures.

As far as neighborhood cafés go this one is a winner. With it's cheap specialty coffees, bagels delivered fresh from Goldberg's of Pikesville, and hip decor this is a great stop in the morning or to get your work done. Pro/con it's kosher, leaving your desires unfulfilled Saturday mornings when it's closed.
