Ok, Joe, I have a 586 357 mag I bought a 4" barrel for it intending it to be my heavy duty bear country back up weapon. I used to shoot this thing competition, so I had the trigger modified to smooth it out and reduce pull. I wanted to duplicate similar Colt out of the box performance. It does, with equally smooth trigger and even lighter pull. But...I find it's still not something you'd want to conceal - carry under normal circumstances, unless you're out in the woods. So I'm used to this gun, feel really confident with it, I shoot nice tight groups, very accurate. Should I still consider a .44 over my trusted .357 model 586? Don't forget, my 586 holds one more round, too. What do you think?
