0 A.D. is mainly oriented towards older players, but as this article shows it can interest younger players as well (in German, and the part about 0 A.D. comes towards the end).

A talk at the LinuxWochen conference.
During the +15 years of development, there have been many challenges for the RTS game 0 A.D. Seven years ago, the project's closed-source development stagnated. Now, the open-source reincarnation of the project is reaching beta stage.
In this presentation we'll give an insight into how the game is developed, what problems there have been and how we overcame them. We'll give you a thorough look under the hood at the game engine and you'll find out how we optimized the pathfinder, and how the multiplayer component works.
If you are interested in large open-source projects, game development, or if are you developing an open-source game yourself, this talk is for you.

During and after the talk we welcome any questions you may have. Questions can be asked in German.
