Seismic airguns are used to find oil and gas underneath the ocean floor. These blasts, 100,000 times more intense than a jet engine, disturb, injure and kill marine life. Proposed seismic airgun testing in the Atlantic would injure 138,500 whales and dolphins. Join Oceana’s fight to save marine life by telling President Obama to Protect the Atlantic

The Bahamas National Natural History Conference (March 5-8), a convention for scientists, educators, resource managers and naturalists, ended with a gala reception sponsored by the Moore Bahamas Foundation at The Retreat, Bahamas National Trust’s (BNT) headquarters. The final day of the conference was dedicated to The Bahamas most loved Marine resource, the conch. The Urban Ecology Conchservation roundtable was attended by a wide stakeholder group. The Moore Bahamas Foundation ended the conference on high note by pledging to financially support the Conchservation Campaign, a national initiative to insure that The Bahamas has a sustainable conch fishery. The funding will support outreach and advocacy initiatives to maintain this staple Bahamian marine species.
