Ironically, what is being suggested here, and the example video being used -- to have the arm "cocked back" at foot strike -- puts undue stress on the arm and removes the bottom half from the equation. Most of the stress is on the arm. The pitcher in this video is going to injure his shoulder and/or elbow, because his arm is too far behind. What has been discovered by scientists of human kinetics as safe and efficient is this: at foot strike, the throwing bicep should be parallel to the ground, and forearm should be at a 90-degree angle to the ground, hand holding the ball up and facing somewhere between shortstop and second base.
