Oceania Cruises Takes Top Honours In Cruise Critic's 2013 Cruisers' Choice Awards

The 2013 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards for the U.S. and the U.K. were announced on February 27 and Oceania Cruises sailed away in the mid-sized ship class, winning in a dozen categories.

The company’s newest ship, Riviera, (pictured) took seven top awards in the U.K., including Best Overall Mid-Sized Ship and Best Value for the Money, along with top honors for Best Cabins, Best Dining, Best for Embarkation, Best Public Rooms and Best Service.  Additionally, U.S. cruisers placed Riviera at the top for Best Cruise to the Mediterranean.

Marina took away three top awards in the U.S. for Best Dining, Best Public Rooms and Best Cabins and won Best for Fitness in the U.K.

“As the 2013 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards are based entirely on reviews submitted by consumers for cruises taken in the past year, it is an honour to receive this recognition from guests the world over,” said Kunal S. Kamlani, the line’s president.  “It’s extremely gratifying to know that our brand proposition to deliver an exceptional cruise experience at an incredible value resonates with travellers.”

Bernard Carter, Oceania Cruises' MD for UK & Europe, said "This is an exceptional accolade for Oceania Cruises in this, the year when we celebrate our 10th anniversary. We are delighted that cruise clients have recognised our efforts with Riviera being voted top honours in 7 out of the 11 available categories in the Cruise Reviewer Awards - and with her sister, Marina also featuring strongly. We very much appreciate that the efforts of our founder and CEO Frank Del Rio and his team to create a truly unique experience have been acknowledged by our UK guests".

Princess Yachts are currently debuting two exciting new models at the London Boat Show 2012

2012 was a significant year in the history of Princess Yachts International with the launch of five new models including both the smallest vessel it has produced for over a decade and the largest the company has ever built.

2013 promises to be as busy for the Plymouth boat builder and the London boat show marks the start of this with a further two new models making their international debuts at the show.

The Princess 82 Motor Yacht and the Princess 52 will be the central focus of a 10 boat display inside London’s ExCel which includes show debuts for the Princess 56 and the new V62-S and a return for the ever popular V39 which stole the show at London last year.

Princess 82 Motor Yacht
Elegant, powerful and incredibly spacious the new Princess 82 Motor Yacht epitomises everything that is Princess from her sleek, dynamic exterior to her impeccably finished interior.  As with all new Princess models, she has been developed and constructed using some of the most advanced technology available in the marine industry today and her uniquely designed deep-V hull is resin infused to ensure a highly capable and efficient performance that is both assured and rewarding.

Extended window lines enhance her contemporary exterior styling to provide a profile that is sporting and sophisticated and provide exceptional views from the main deck saloon. The exterior space on board is plentiful with a large cockpit complete with teak table for alfresco dining, an intimate foredeck seating and sunbathing area for a more private escape and an incredible flybridge with additional dining, seating and sunbathing areas all serviced from a dedicated wet bar.

Her interior is light, sophisticated and beautifully detailed with an intelligent use of space throughout.  The main deck saloon is laid out in a style more commonly seen on much larger motor yachts with the ability to create a highly spacious yet extremely private entertaining space for the owners and their guests. Sumptuous low level furnishings provide an elegant yet relaxed saloon and a formal dining area is positioned forward, separated from the wheelhouse and highly specified galley to ensure guest privacy - especially important for those with the charter market in mind.

The lower deck space is especially large for this size of yacht and guest accommodation comprises of four beautifully appointed en-suite cabins.  A full beam owner’s suite and forward VIP are complemented by a twin cabin to port and a further double stateroom to starboard.  Crew are accommodated in a twin en-suite cabin aft of the machinery space together with a utility area which can be specified as a second twin crew cabin if required.

The new 82 Motor Yacht will be another exceptional addition to the Princess range and promises to further strengthen the company as the builder of choice for the discerning motor yacht owner.

Princess 52
Princess broke new ground when they launched the Princess 50 which has long been the benchmark for her class. Impeccable handling, blistering performance and exceptional space and comfort the model quickly became something of an iconic product for the Plymouth boat builder.  So to replace this model is no small feat but the new Princess 52 promises to be a craft that is definitely up to the challenge.

The new Princess 52 has been designed and engineered by one of the largest and most experienced in-house development teams in the industry and created using some of the most advanced technology available in the marine industry today.  Her unique hull is the latest design of the legendary Princess deep-V hull, with a variable geometry deadrise aft of the point of entry to provide a smoother  transition to plane and widen the range of planing speeds to improve efficiency, particularly when cruising.  The hull is also resin-infused to reduce weight and increase torsional stiffness, significantly improving performance with less power making her one of the most efficient yachts of her class.

Out on deck the spacious cockpit is fitted with a large teak dining table and generous seating providing the perfect place to relax in the shade offered by the extended flybridge above. A second alfresco dining table is situated on the flybridge which, with extensive seating, convertible sunbed and optional wetbar, is ideal for entertaining. Wide side decks and teak-laid steps ensure safe movement around the boat and an optional hydraulic raise/lower mechanism transforms the bathing platform into a submersible beach or operates as a simple and effective launch and recovery system for a tender.

As you would expect from a Princess, the attention to detail and quality of finish throughout her interior is of the highest standard.  Large windows fill the main deck with natural light and ensure wonderful views and excellent visibility for the lower helm. The galley is situated aft of the saloon creating a highly sociable atmosphere whether entertaining guests in the cockpit or around the large dining table inside.

The extra space created by positioning the galley on the main deck allows for three very spacious and beautifully appointed cabins below. The master stateroom is situated aft to make use of the full beam and features large hull windows either side to create an exceptionally light space and provide wonderful views. Both the master and the spacious forward guest cabin have generous en-suites and ample storage throughout.  The optional aft cabin, with its own WC, incorporates a single bed for crew or occasional guests.

The new Princess 52 is one of a long line of successful Princess flybridge models that have benefitted from five decades of experience and expertise in building some of the worlds finest motor yachts.  Created by some of the most passionate designers, engineers and artisans Princess yachts don’t meet standards, they set new ones and the new Princess 52 is no exception. With her contemporary design, exceptional quality and exhilarating performance she is sure to continue this tradition and keep Princess leading the way.

Benetti Releases New Classic Supreme 132' Yacht

Italian shipyard, Benetti, has unveiled their new Classic Supreme 132’ luxury yacht.

The project brief was guided by the necessity to present an ever more competitive vessel to the market, maintaining Benetti's attention to innovation intact. The new Benetti Classic Supreme 132’, which measures 40.24 metres overall, with a maximum beam of 8.28 metres, was designed to exalt the characteristics of a displacement yacht, with ample interior and exterior volumes, combined with a high level of on-board comfort.

Full height windows on both the main and upper deck give greater light to the interior decks, as well as a racier look to the yacht's profile. The attention to design is also visible thanks to several new details: the external rotating pilot wings are retractable and disappear in the shearline, and the navigation lights' new design that increases their integration with the boat's exterior lines make it appear more modern and captivating.

The interior of the vessel is autographed by Francios Zuretti, in collaboration with the yard's internal design team. The furnishings of Petrus II, the first hull built in the new Classic range, which is making its official debut at next month’s Miami International Boat Show (USA), are of natural oak and wengè, enriched with handmade leather inserts. Other highlights include diamond-shaped panels in ivory-coloured natural leather in the owner's and the VIP cabins which rise from behind the head of the berths and continue up to the ceiling, while in other spaces, such as the main salon, there are recessed ceiling lights.
