If you haven't read this yet, you should. It's chock-full of facts: not just information, but links to all of the places you can go to find out more.
Parents, if you are being told that vaccinating your child is dangerous or ineffective, by anyone other than your doctor saying that your child has a specific condition which makes a particular vaccine dangerous, you are being lied to. You may be being lied to in good faith (by a well-meaning but uninformed friend) or in bad faith (by a peddler of fake "remedies" or a lawyer trying to get you to join a suit), but lies like these put the lives of your children, and of your children's friends, and of your community, at risk.
Vaccines are some of the safest and most tested things in all of medicine; the reports that they cause autism, that a child's body can't cope with the regular schedule of them, or that they are ineffective were all hoaxes. (Many of them perpetrated by people with large financial interests) The diseases they protect against, which are now coming back in areas with high concentrations of "anti-vax" parents -- diseases such as polio, measles, and whooping cough -- are deadly and can kill or cripple your child.
And worst of all, there are some children (and adults) who actually can't get the vaccine, due to allergies or other medical conditions: if you or your child is carrying one of these diseases, it can and does kill someone else's child. When enough of the people in an area are vaccinated, there's nowhere for the disease to live at all, and it dies out; but when enough (not that many!) people can still carry it, the disease can keep moving around, until it finds vulnerable victims. This is what's behind several deadly outbreaks across the US in the past few years.
If you still aren't sure, read this. Read the links. Read what doctors and scientists say. Study and learn more. You'll discover that the safety of vaccines is about as well-established as the dangers of tobacco -- and, like in that case, there are people who are interested in making sure you think there's a controversy.
Vaccinate your children on schedule: you could save their life, and you will save others.
