How terribly happy you make me, Vista Theatre. $6.50(ish) for the first showing of the day in LA's best theatre. Fact. It feels old school and very fancy. The ticket man is always smiling and seemingly always there and the theatre is very spacious. You know, what, grab a drink at Tiki-Ti and then head over!

We support the Vista by attending as often as we can. Love the connection to history, plus one of the managers recognizes us and often dresses a part from the movie...welcome to our Silver Lake community...smart and quirky (goals I aspire to).

One of the best theaters in Los Angeles. Beautiful marquee, retro ads and a grand red curtain, the Vista is classic moviegoing at its finest.

One of the great movie houses in LA! The Vista is one of those historic old Egyptian-style theaters, dating from 1923, and it retains all those pharoanic motifs on the walls and ceiling, but it's thoroughly modern in all the best ways: super-clean, with a great sound system and a great screen. No stadium seating, but even better: they took out every other row of seats during their mid-90s renovation, so there's more leg-room than you've ever seen in a theater. And the prices are about 20% less than most area theatres...

It was as if I had stepped out of a time machine and into a theater demolished long before I was born. Gone were the escalators and parking validators that I had grown accustomed to; in their place, Egyptian kings stared out at me from behind tombs. I sat and waited for what was to come, a kaleidoscope of images smashing themselves into a narrative that I would later try to assemble in my head. The seating was spacious and a few seats over two men discussed the rise of podcasts. It was a conversation that I could not escape even by traveling through the ages. There was a funny smell all around but no one else seemed to notice or care, maybe it was them, maybe it was the bodies in the walls. After the images on the screen subsided I made my way out into the afternoon, the sun beating down even harsher than before. I was back in 2014, my escape from modern life all too brief.

I live nearby and the prices of tickets are very affordable. Having a very friendly and accommodating manager in the person of Victor, who would gladly pose for a photo with moviegoers whenever he wears a costume portraying the main character of the movie currently shown, is a big come-on and an effective marketing strategy. The real big space along the aisles and in between rows of seats, offers a major comfort to moviegoers plus the superb sound system makes temptation hard to resist to watch movies at this theater. It's one of the best in L.A.!
