A bit of a disappointment given the fame behind Eric Ripert as a fish chef. The tuna tartar appetizer was quite remarkable, but was the only memorable part of the meal. Both fish entrees were competently cooked, but boring. Desert was good, but carbon copies of dishes I've eaten in other cities that frankly did it better. There is better DC choices.

The food is reliably good at this place, but the decor is vapidly bland. I almost feel like I'm at the Aloft hotel at BWI.

Ripert needs to take his name off this or risk being a joke. This place has now more that hit the wall. It's worse than a hotel restaurant at a midrange Marriott. We should have suspected something when, on a Friday night, the place was never more than 20% full. Dinner for 4: one totally inedible dish, three barely. All preparations were uninspired and, in a real poke in the eye to Chef Eric, the seafood served is way over the hill.

Consistently wonderful drinks and ever-changing seasonal cocktails. Chef Ripert always has something unexpected to awaken your taste buds.

The biggest improvement has been the wine list. It has gone from predictable to inspirational with the perfect balance of variety, price range and surprise. The food is good, fairly consistent and flavorful. Their summer pop up BBQ was one of the most creative things in DC.

The new team of chef Scott Suchman and Kevin Bozkaya have transformed this restaurant from the good but-somewhat-over-priced to definitely worth every penny. We tried nine dishes and every one was excellent (wonderful carpaccio of tuna, super duck mousse, main courses cooked to perfection, to-die-for truffle French fries). Westend is definitely back on the map and we will be back!
