There is no day passing without the German government or parliament showing their complete lack of knowledge on how the Internet works, how people use it and how to encourage people to actively begin to create something useful out of it. Germans call this phenomenon #Neuland .

The creator of the Xabber software (an XMPP client) who lives in Russia got a snail mail from the German regulatory licensing board that "Xapper" was a "messaging service" which was "accessible within Germany" and because of a (total useless and stupid) law existing in Germany he would be required to get a license to operate this messaging service in Germany . Not only it is ridiculous to force people from everywhere on the planet following German laws just because the Internet allows people from there to connect to them, no, that "Bundesnetzagentur" was even too stupid to realize that offering a client for a protocol does not mean to operate a service.

#Germany and digitalization: zero points. They will never learn it - and in 10 years they will cry when nobody buys their cheating Diesel cars any more - and they have nothing left to offer to the world then.
