I asked Emma Byrne in O'Brien Press, who has designed this wonderful cover, was I allowed to put it up - and she said YES, so without further ado, here is the cover to White Feathers, my novel whic...

Blog post - thoughtful advice appreciated on the below issue!

http://coffeeandsharepoint.blogspot.ie/2013/02/sharepoint-form-control-people-picker.html
This latest issue is exactly what it says on the tin :) You have a People Picker control which is used to story a value that corresponds to an SPFieldUserValue in a SharePoint list object. Because the...

Wow, thank you for that very comprehensive reply, +Tristan Anderson ! I have asked if there are any AD differences between this user and the others. And I've just recalled that sometimes if I pre-populate the control with a user that normally wouldn't behave that way, it does...hmmm. The first link made my head go splodey so I will start with the second I think :) Thank you very much for taking the time to explain that to me, it's much appreciated.

The SharePoint community has lured me back to google plus. If the resident self-styled Peer Gynt doesn't frighten me off, I might pop up from tmie to time!

My latest blog post - fighting Sharepoint all the way for this

http://coffeeandsharepoint.blogspot.ie/2013/01/customising-newformaspx-of-list-using.html
I've been meaning to write this for ages. The first thing I should mention is that you're not meant to do this. Believe me I have fought the Sharepoint markup generator every step of the way on this o...

+Bjørn Furuknap , I was going to write an energetic response but do you know what - I think I'll just let your comment stand, for the entire internet to see. That should be enough to allow ample inference of your character. Good day to you, sir.

Why Yes, I Bear a Grudge

It's only fair that I update this post to say that the moderator of this group was very kind to me when I was attacked on this forum. I'm very grateful to him for that.

I haven't posted here for a while - and now I'm going to be controversial - but a sharepoint guru who left abusive comments on my blog a year ago has now abandoned all pretence at treating anyone, males included, with a modicum of respect.

I have edited the rest of this post - because I admit I was deeply, intensely angry when I wrote it - and I have removed the link where they insult other peers in the business. If you google "sharepoint doesn't suck- you suck" you will find the rant. The link to the comment left on my post is in the first comment. Also the person is blocked. I'm not inclined to unblock them to suit their convenience, but I've nothing to hide.

I want to thank people who have left +1s. I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you have done that and that I am not a useless person. That commenter made me feel useless, that's why.

Thank you, Michael. I acknowledge your courtesy on the earlier post and appreciate it. Yes, I already have the man blocked. One encounter with him was quite enough.

The reason I was frustrated was because he has power in this arena and I do not; he abused this power. And he knew he would suffer no penalty for it. It is not acceptable for a respected expert to punch down.

You might have a point that I can publicly discredit him on my blog in more detail.

Good luck to you too of course.

Because regrettably I've had this problem once since I joined here (I have blocked the person concerned so they should not be able to view my posts or comments) I think it's important for me to put this up. People getting the hang of developing the application, particularly female and entry-level male developers, deserve a supportive environment.

I'd like to thank the private notifications and kind comments from the community at the time I encountered this problem.

A brief pause from the usual outpourings of code and blather to talk about a serious topic. A few people in an online SharePoint comm to which I was recently invited expressed mild disagreement with m...

ps google plus is a bit of a pile of pants, I meant to hit reply and accidentally hit mute, so I have muted my own post and google plus is not providing me with the means to un-mute it. I hope I haven't hidden it en masse!

Poem of the day

Dirge in Woods
by George Meredith

A wind sways the pines,
         And below
Not a breath of wild air;
Still as the mosses that glow
On the flooring and over the lines
Of the roots here and there.
The pine-tree drops its dead;
They are quiet, as under the sea.
Overhead, overhead
Rushes life in a race,
As the clouds the clouds chase;
         And we go,
And we drop like the fruits of the tree,
         Even we,
         Even so.

I just wanted to thank everyone who has dropped by my humble little blog to plus-one posts on it since I was invited here about a month ago. It means so much to know that a post was useful to you and I'm delighted that was the case. It makes me feel very vindicated and happy to see it.

I'm very interested in reading other people's blogs too. I'm not the kind of person who thinks of SharePoint when she goes home in the evening, frankly, but I do like sharing ideas to make all our lives easier, so please feel free to share.

Hi, folks. We have a growing list of SharePoint blogs over on the SharePoint Community Partners site, where I'm a member. Take a look and let us know if there are blogs you'd like to add.

Also, because its powered by Listly you can vote up the blogs you find particularly useful, so the community says which ones have the most value or are the most popular.
