Sobo Ramen is a Fusion (Japanese-Inspired) ramen shop.  We are very proud that our ingredients are sourced from our local farmers; Our organic bones are from Llano Seco in Chico. The pork from Coleman Natural. The chicken and bones are from Petaluma Poultry in Petaluma. Our organic produces are from Avila's Farms in Hollister. The egg is cage free organic, from GV Poultry in Ripon.  And our noodles are custom-made in the Bay Area. Every ingredient is uniquely paired with each soup. Sobo Ramen also currently offers a vegan and a gluten free ramen, we have something for everyone.

To us, ramen is not only a bowl of comfort food; it contains the spirit of the farmers, ranchers, chef and origins of its beginnings. Food connects us with people locally and globally, while comforting each other through community, conversation, and nourishment. It brings us great gratification that we are able to serve you something we love.

Hip haunt for carefully sourced ramen & Japanese classics, including gluten-free & vegan options.- Google
"Use gluten free soy sauce or don't say gluten free options!"
"The broth and pork belly is the bomb here."

This place is very good and the prices are very reasonable. It's not a 'scene' and that's a good thing because the service is great with attentive wait staff even during a busy weekend lunch rush. You can definitely go there on a casual, chill, low-key vibe and still enjoy yourself solo, date, or with friends. Try the chicken shoyu! They have good vegetarian options too!

Good broth, good noodles, and great prices. There's some real crappy ramen out there...this is not one of those places.

Definitely the best ramen in downtown Oakland, and I would say their specialty ramens are more consistent than even The Ramen Shops. I like the mayu black garlic oil ramen. Their appetitizers are tiny servings so not that great of a deal.

We've become loyal regulars at Sobo. The service is incredible, the setting small yet accommodating and the best item on the menu is their Spicy Shoyu. They also have a great Gluten-free and Vegan menu. I've lived all over the Bay and different parts of the country and Sobo is simply my favorite Ramen ship in Oakland. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I've walked by this place many times, but never went in because someone told me it wasn't very good. Today we have it a try. The service was decent, the hot tea came in a super tiny pot, the ramen was pretty tasty but the soup want super hot as it should be. Worth the ramen they have pre design selections or you can build your own.

There are not a lot of good Asian restaurants in nor cal. This is an exception. I've been here several times during my summer internship. The spicy black tonkotsu ramen is the best. You can also customize your ramen if you're particularly picky. They get quite busy during lunch, so if you can come a little before the rush, the wait isn't that long! Food: 4/5 Price: 3/5 Location: 3/5 (it's in Chinatown so there are a lot of other Asian options!)

Here's a ramen place smack dab in the middle of Chinatown. The things is people wants to believe the news more than word of mouth. This place just can't compare to the real version. Cantonese and Mandarin spoken among employees. Only thing Japanese is decor and ambiance everything else is make believe. Broth and flavoring is use and be prepared to be thirsty. Staff are nice, but thats about it.

Creative and traditional ramen with a nice array of side dishes. Good value and robust flavors make it a great addition to Oakland's Chinatown.
