Much like Malta itself, Angelica may be small but it packs quite the punch! Charmingly designed inside, and including al fresco tables that are ideal for balmy evenings, make sure to reserve in advance to ensure the chance to try the intimate restaurant's freshly prepared dishes (and arrive hungry, for they are rich and generous). Starting off with a savory muffin with flavored with tomato, fresh herbs and sheep cheese - and of course a few of the region's plump olives on the side - I am torn between the main dishes, but eventually opt for the slow-roasted pork belly - succulent and tender, topped with moreish crackling. Considering the fact I still need to try the restaurant's rabbit - and enjoy another evening of lively conversation with owner Mona - another journey to Valletta and Angelica is high on my must-do list, and I recommend the same for any visitor to the island.
