This place is pretty bad. I went here with my girlfriend as part of the $25 living social three course meal for two coupon. The meal started off pretty good. For appetizer we got the calamari and mussels. Mussels were very well cooked and calamari was equally as tasty. The entree round fell flat on its face. The sole was decent, but everything else on the plate was just mushed together. I had the monkfish, which was terribly overcooked and tasted nothing like it was supposed to. The veggies were soggy and the broth probably could have used a little less salt. Then came the dessert round. I've never had anything more disgusting in my life. The tiramisu tasted like it had fell in the toilet. It was extremely soggy and there was barely any flavor. The sweet potato pie was done like a creme brulee, but it too was watery and did not appeal to my taste buds. Needless to say I will not be coming here again. If you want to waste $50 of your own money feel free.

This is very disappointing to read, Sheng. I'm glad things started off on the right foot, but obviously we want your entire meal to be enjoyable. As we have been here in Bethesda for almost 6 years, we have sold all the dishes you describe to many positive reviews, I'm very sorry you didn't care for them. I'll certainly look into your comments, but those dishes are truly classics on our menu, and I have not had anyone with similar feedback. Your comments are a bit brash, but that is what people can do online...Did you bring up your "disgusting" dessert experience to anyone here? WE would have gladly replaced...I really wish guests would communicate in person so we can fix the problem. I have tasted the Tira Misu just now, perhaps you got a portion that was a little wetter than others? The one I have here now is beautiful, and a dessert that we've had on our menu since we opened... I truly work hard at our business, and would have appreciated your feedback in person, perhaps we could have gotten you another dessert, or entree that better fit your tastebuds. I rarely write good reviews for anything but I thought this restaurant deserved a positive rave. The service was great, our waiter was very cordial and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the Filet Mignon Tapas dish which was cooked to perfection along with the calamari. My date ordered the crabcake and I had the shrimp and lobster pasta which was absolutely delicious. The portions are pretty large and given the quality, the price is an absolute steal. Everything tasted extremely fresh and I was really pleased with my entire dining experience. I would definitely visit again and will recommend this quaint little spot to others.

Came to Chef Tony's for the first time with a groupon. Groups of 6 of us and 1 baby. The staff was super friendly and accomodating! Some our favorties: the calamari, seafood crevieche, crab soup for starters; organic poached salmon over pasta for entree; creme brulee, sweet potato pie, and tira misu for dessert; house mojito, red stag honey bourbon for drinks. Everything was fresh and delicious. Will definitely come again.

We have eaten a couple times here. The latest time was strange. We got a nice table right away with our small child, who they were very warm with. Although it wasn't crowded, we waited 20 minutes for our starters. I had ordered the filet mignon satays rare; they arrived well done. They were replaced almost immediately with a small apology. For my main I ordered scallops partly because they were supposed to be served with mashed potatoes, which I had been craving. But then they arrived with lentils! There was no offer to switch it out. Explanation at the end of the meal was that Chef Tony made a mistake. The food, including the lentils, was delicious. However, there were mistakes and the service was a little too slow.

thank you for feedback, and yes, we are human and obviously made an error. Most concerning is that we didn't offer you a simple addition of a side of our delicious mashed potatoes, so simple to do? We visited restaurant on a Saturday night; the restaurant was about half-filled. The front room, where we chose to sit, is especially inviting. Two dishes--small plate of crisp Virginia oysters and entree of sauteed scallops with garlic mashed potatoes and ratatouille-like vegetable melange--were delicious; the small plate of tapenade was good but not great. All dishes were properly cooked and served at the correct temperature. The young waitress was attentive but overly friendly and familiar, probably a result of immaturity and insufficient training. She failed to advise us of a substitution the kitchen made (on a dessert) which was more expensive than the dish we ordered. She took care of it, though, when we pointed it out. I would return to the restaurant and recommend it to others.
