Our first step was to cut all of our expenses to a minimum, biking everywhere, cooking at home, cutting our cable, and buying almost nothing. We sold our two cars, which alone paid for about a year on the road.

ECF Cycling barometer

Denmark and the Netherlands once again come out on top, with the same  four countries following close behind: Sweden, Finland, Germany, and Belgium.

Data published in May 2015.
The European Cyclists' Federation (ECF) has published its second Cycling Barometer this May. The groundbreaking new benchmark report was launched for the first time in 2013 and it provided a multi-dimensional view on cycling in all 27 EU countries.

Tests held in 2012 found that allowing the cyclists to move more freely cut down the chances of collisions with cars, including accidents involving the car's blind spot.
Cyclists in Paris are to be allowed to ride through red lights after tests showed the move would not lead to accidents.

London's Design Museum

Opening on 18 November and running through to 30 June 2016, the exhibition won’t just focus on the stars of the sport and the bikes they ride, however – it will focus on all aspects of cycling, including recreating a workshop that will focus on six British frame builders, and looking at the future of cycling in an urban environment, highlighting the latest innovations.

...you rarely see people carrying exceptional loads, or texting, or cycling with dogs, or giving backies, in British cities, but all these things are extraordinarily common in Dutch cities, while hi-visibility clothing and helmets are almost entirely absent. Indeed, I would even estimate that people with functioning lights are definitely in the minority in the centre of larger Dutch cities.
I shared some pictures the other day, in an attempt to convey a fairly simple message - that the safety record of the Netherlands for cycling is almost entirely attributable to the physical environ...
