Godzilla:
Now I'm not what you would call a Godzilla fan, but I'm learning to appreciate it more now.
If you're a fan of kaiju movies, then this is the one to see and if you're not, it's still pretty easy to follow and not be confusing to new viewers.
Imagery quite impressed me taking in regards the science of giant monsters actually existing with their CGI, and at times it looked like they paid homage to the original series by having people in the rubber suits, oddly enough I enjoyed that.
This goes down as being the first monster movie where I actually cared about human characters, though having Bryan Cranston involved would definitely make me do that; I even liked the romantic leads despite the fact of the other movie characters their famous for (more on that next year.)
What I like about Godzilla himself this time around is that he's a defender of the earth, not humanity. While he doesn't actively seek to destroy humans, he doesn't mind that they're caught in the crosshairs.
I also don't say this in a lot of reviews, but this is one of the few non musical movies that I've seen where music and imagery are done effectively.
Definitely go watch this one today, if you can.
