Dan Billow is an expert when it comes to the Space Coast. His knowledge of NASA and spaceflight is unparalleled. He’s also a member of the WESH 2 First Alert weather team.
Dan joined WESH 2 News in 1987 from KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada. Previously, he had worked at KRCR-TV in Redding and KESQ-TV in Palm Springs, California. He was born in Orange, Calif., and attended California State University in Fullerton. He graduated with a degree in communications and economics. He received his certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2008 and his American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in 2009.
Dan is a multiple-award winner, holding the duPont/Columbia Award, the Society of Professional Journalists Bronze Medallion and three Emmy awards. He’s covered numerous high-profile stories, including the Columbia accident in 2003. His personal favorite happened when he experienced weightlessness while doing a special series on NASA. He’s also stayed on top of every hurricane to hit the east coast of Florida since 1987, including two of the most damaging storms, Andrew and Katrina. One of his Emmys resulted from his reporting on Hurricane Erin.
Dan has a wife, son and two daughters. He enjoys trim carpentry and reading in his spare time. His favorite book is "The Civil War: A Narrative" by Shelby Foote.
