When the sun goes down it seems that my camera does too.  Night photography is a challenge. How do I capture the lights without lighting up the frame and making it look like daytime? So I've been p...

I've spent some time over the last year exploring mountains...and testing my body and my endurance.  I've walked for miles, enjoyed wildflowers, listened to birds, noticed clouds, smelled pine tree...

Thanks +Charlene Doland.  I've been enjoying your city by doing some urban hiking.  I've been here before, but mostly working with little time for exploration.  This has been a treat!

Thinking about privilege, and public spaces...       #donowpublic   #clmooc   #photography

I spend a lot of time on the beach, walking and thinking and taking pictures.  In this public space, even in a crowd, I feel a sense of solitude.  Wrapped in the sounds of the sea, the wind on my f...

Kim, you beat me to this reflection. Since Tuesday's chat, I keep struggling with a definition of the word "public". Our National Parks are public since we all contribute to their funding, but they still require an entrance fee. Internet sites are free until they are not. I can access a lot from public libraries, but they still have to pay their staff. You've helped me decide to finish my connections in a make-ish piece of writing, Thanks.

Your blog post has got me thinking a lot about access to public spaces -- physical and explicit as well as psychological and implicit agreements/rules/invitations to enter. Who controls access? How is it negotiated?
