You all probably remember them, those iconic experiences of heading out on a school day with your classmates and teacher to a local museum or art gallery to extend and enhance what was going on the...

Reclaiming shades of gray as a photographer.  What shades of gray do you see through your lens?   #photography   #nwpianthology   #writing   #gray   #photoessay
It's not what you think...this isn't about the book or the movie.  Instead, this is about winter and all the grays I've been seeing lately. I've noticed icy grays...not here at home, but while I wa...

How does scale impact your work...and your life? #photography   #postaday   #scale   #photoessay   #education
Exploring different camera lenses changes my experiences with scale.  With the macro lens, I am able to magnify things that are small and make them appear larger than life.  The blossoms on this fl...

A new make cycle has been added to the Writing Thief MOOC!  Here's yet another opportunity to share your thinking and ideas with the rest of the community.  You are welcome to jump right into cycle 8...or any of the other cycles along the way.  We welcome new voices...and those who have been here with us all along.  And those of you who are participating silently...we're glad you're here.  You can join in--with no excuses or reasons for "being late"--there's no late in this space!

Well, maybe not perfect symmetry, but a perfect day exploring LA with my son! #photography   #symmetry   #postaday   #losangeles
I know that symmetry is a mathematical concept...one of precision, perfectly matched halves. But mostly, in the world, symmetry is not so perfect.  But there are echoes of symmetry all around us.  ...

I've been thinking a lot lately about early reading since my 3 year old is stuck with a teacher-mom.  I found it interesting that the first two things she recognized in print were "Costco" (She pointed out that my membership card matches the sign on the building) and "SDGVA" (she was sitting on my lap as I read through some emails and she pointed to our logo in the corner and said, "Mom (cause she's grown and I'm no longer Mommy), it's your schooooool!"  Guess it says a lot about where I spend my time. LOL

Make Cycle 7: Our Own Writing Mentors  -

Inspired by the description of Tagus River (a coat) in the J. Peterman catalog, our group wrote this short Haiku Deck story at our #sdawp study group this morning.  This is co-written by Joel, Vickie, Darcy, and me.
