Is Bitcoin mania really a Tulip mania or Beanie Babies mania?
As Bitcoin continues to soar in valuation, new investors are joining the craze, even if they don’t initially have the money to pay for the cryptocurrency.

Securities regulator Joseph Borg says he has seen people doing everything from running up credit card debt to mortgaging their homes to pour money into the cryptocurrency.

It’s easy, from one angle, to see why. Bitcoin started out the year being worth $1,000. On Nov. 20, Bitcoin set a new record by passing the $8,000 mark. As of mid-morning Tuesday, it was worth over $17,000. Very few investments double their value in just 22 days.

But Bitcoin is the very definition of a volatile investment. The current rate of investment in Bitcoin is bound to eventually result in a sell off as investors reap their profits.

Get To Know Trump's Defense Team
Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and his team of a dozen-plus lawyers and investigators have proven stealthy in their wide-ranging Russia probe. They have surprised the White House with one indictment after another, and summoned President Trump’s confidants for lengthy interviews. In the case of former campaign chairman Paul Manafort alone, court filings show, they have collected more than 400,000 documents and 36 electronic devices.

Mueller and his deputies are, in the fearful word of some Trump loyalists, “killers.”

Trump’s response, by contrast, is being directed by John M. Dowd, the president’s personal lawyer retired from a large firm who works essentially as a one-man band, and Ty Cobb, a White House lawyer who works out of a small office in the West Wing basement, near the cafeteria where staffers get lunch.

Do You Know How Trump and Putin Communicate?
Everything Trump posts on his Twitter account “is regarded in Moscow as his official statements,” Peskov told reporters on a conference call Tuesday. “Obviously, it’s reported to President Putin, along with other information about the official statements of politicians and heads of state from other countries.”

While it would be wrong for the Kremlin to comment on Trump’s use of the social network, Putin isn’t on Twitter and has said publicly that he’s not interested in tweeting, Peskov said. The president also doesn’t want any officials to run an account on his behalf, he said.

Trump tweets prodigiously, often to the consternation of White House officials who learn of his remarks at the same time as his 44.5 million followers. The president sends streams of messages that attack domestic critics, accuse U.S. media of “fake news” and promote his Make America Great Again agenda.

Do You Think This Idea Would Work?!
Matt Bruenig of the People’s Policy Project recently wrote an article in the New York Times suggesting a policy idea that seems extremely promising and woefully overlooked. That idea is what Bruenig calls a social wealth fund -- a government-owned portfolio of stocks, bonds and real estate whose dividends would be paid out directly to the citizenry.

This is similar to what economist Miles Kimball and others have been calling a sovereign wealth fund, which is the typical name for funds that some natural-resource exporters use to invest the proceeds from their state-owned oil and gas companies. But Bruenig’s name is better.

Is To Be Decent Necessary To Become Super Star Lawyer?
David Boies knows what you’re thinking. In the closing weeks of 2017, with nonstop investigations showing how powerful men got away with mistreating women around them for so long, it looks like the fixers, agents, gossip columnists, and attorneys who enabled their behavior will be next in line to fall.
But Boies, one of the world’s most powerful attorneys, whose own role has come under fire, is projecting calm and confidence. He and his firm, he says in a phone interview, will be fine. “I do think that many clients’ perspectives are different and more sophisticated than the public narratives,” he says. “They understand what lawyers do.”

If You Believe That A Burger Is Fine Cuisine This Is You Way To Heaven!
There’s nothing like the satisfaction of a great burger—and nothing quite like the disappointment of a bad one. When you’re on the road, there’s little room for error, so we asked three burger-meisters for tips on where to go.

Randy Garutti is the New York-based chief executive officer of Shake Shack; Scott Collins founded Meatliquor restaurants in London with chef Yianni Papoutsis; Uwe Opocensky is executive chef at the Greater China Restaurant Co. in Hong Kong. He previously held that role at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, then switched to burgers from fine dining.

What Do You Need to Launder $1 Billion? - A Corrupt Dictator!
Not long ago, Zarrab’s life might have fit the description of a James Bond villain’s—he glided around Istanbul with his pop-star wife in Aston Martins and Range Rovers, flew on private planes, and sported around the Aegean with his own jetpack and submarine. He liked to carry a gold-plated pistol and kept an office at Trump Towers Istanbul. That all came to an end in March 2016, when Zarrab was arrested by FBI agents as he arrived in Miami for a vacation at Disney World. Over the next 18 months, Zarrab, 34, was the chief defendant in a prosecution accusing him and others of a conspiracy to launder almost $1 billion through banks in the U.S. to help Iran evade sanctions over its nuclear program.
Zarrab hired a team of 16 lawyers from some of the most elite U.S. law firms. After the 2016 presidential election, he enlisted two Donald Trump confidants, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and ex-U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, who tried to cut a deal for his release, including a prisoner swap. But those efforts failed. Then in September, Zarrab vanished.
