Emmi stole JLBoden's heart when she read Loving Emmi by Author Barbara Boswell Brunner.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’ve already added the first volume of Dog-ma to my Amazon ‘to buy’ list. I’m an avid animal lover and the way they cherish this furry life and those of their previous pets makes me heart swell. I have a rescue cat named Izzy and can see so much of her in the shenanigans of Izzy the Terrier I couldn’t help but laugh.

Loving Emmi is the heart wrenching story of a seriously injured rottweiler puppy and the humans who refuse to give up on her. Barbara and Ray move mountains for Emmie with the help of their social media family. Despite veterinarians pushing to euthanise her from the very beginning they fought for her right to live. From the way they hand feed her, comfort her through difficult nights to they way they swim with her and adapt toys so she can have a full life, this book goes a long way to restore my faith in humanity. The unbreakable spirit of Barbara and Ray coupled with the kind hearted animal lovers who all donated to Emmis cause with money towards vets bills, advice and anonymous gifts through the post is simply beautiful.

The narrative switches from Barbara’s point of view to Izzy and Emmi’s and one chapter in particular in Emmi’s voice brought me to tears. When you read the book you will know exactly the one I mean. Highly recommended to anyone who loves animals. I’m off to join the facebook page and scroll through the photos of the puppy who stole my heart this saturday afternoon.

Author Barbara Boswell Brunner is back with another heart-wearming, thought-provoking book; Loving Emmi, reviews +Lisa Bregant of Heartprints Pets.

Loving Emmi is about her experiences loving and caring for dogs that others may have given up on. I’m so happy to have had the opportuity to read and review this book.

Loving Emmi begins with a story about Barbara Boswell Brunner’s Rottweiler, Morgan, a humorous, gentle giant, who passed away in 2013 from cancer. The author tells of Morgan’s cancer battle and her impact on her family. Soon after Morgan’s passing, the family suffers another loss when their dog Cooper passes suspiciously. My heart broke for the family for suffering so much loss.

The family began their search for a companion for Izzy, who we are introduced to in Dog-Ma the Zen of Slobber. Soon, they are united with…Morgan…who became Emmi. I won’t go into detail on how they are united with Emmi, because it is truly a special circumstance. Truly destiny, I believe.

Loving Emmi shows how a generous and loving online community and a family willing to do whatever it takes saved a malnourished, injured, abused, and neglected puppy.

This book triggered a range of emotions. Anger and disgust at the breeder’s cruelty, sadness for Emmi’s suffering, happiness for the love and support Emmi experiences to this day, and admiration for Barbara Boswell Brunner and her family for their love and devotion for all of the dogs who have been blessed to be a part of their family.

I enjoyed the portions written from Emmi and Izzy’s perspectives. They are so sweet and humorous.

I highly recommend Loving Emmi for all animal lovers. Have your tissues handy and hug your pets closely!

Book Description
And the Dog-Ma saga continues...

In this highly anticipated sequel to the best-selling Dog-Ma, The Zen of Slobber, Izzy, the feisty and ferocious terrier, has lost her eyesight. Following on the heels of this devastating loss, her arch-rival Morgan - a gentle giant of a Rottweiler - suddenly succumbs to cancer. Finding herself a lonely-only, it's not long before Izzy finds herself nose-to-nose with her humans' new pet project: a foster Rottie pup also named Morgan. Quickly renamed Emmi to avoid confusion (and the wrath of Izzy,) it was to be the beginning of a journey unlike any other.

Severely injured as a newborn, Emmi—affectionately known to her fast-growing online fan base as Baby Morgan the Broken Jaw Puppy—is hanging onto life by a thread. Living with a crushed jaw that has left her unable to open her mouth to eat or drink, the prognosis is grim. Baby Morgan is starving to death. Having rescued her from a horrific life, her parents spring into all-out desperation mode to find her the best lifesaving medical care. Despite the advice of veterinary professionals to euthanize, her parents are determined to save her at all costs. Taking to the Internet, they rally a huge online community of dog lovers who quickly become their second family. It does not take long for Emmi's sheer determination and ferocious will to live to take hold.

This is Emmi's miracle. A story of hope, inspiration and triumph in the face of adversity.

Loving Emmi by Author Barbara Boswell Brunner is a heartwarming tale of the resilience of a dog reviews +Miki's Hope.

This is a heartwarming tale of the resilience of a dog to overcome multiple disabilities and the efforts of the owners and their internet friends to pay for multiple operations. That this dog led a relatively long and happy life is due to veterinary science and the love of his owners--they would not give up! I have to put this here--you see I love ALL animals and there is one sentence in this story which totally upset me--when you read this book which I think you should--I am pretty sure you will figure out what it was (and still is).

This puppy defied the odds and survived until her first birthday thanks to three amazing surgical teams. This is the tribute to her survival and celebration of her first birthday. Please share her story. http://www.facebook.com/BabyMorganTheBrokenJawPuppy

Dr. Beckman and his team have provided amazing care for our rottweiler puppy, who suffered a broken jaw with severe complications at the age of 8 weeks. He graciously referred us to another surgeon when inclement weather kept him away from SW Florida for her original consultation, which was an emergency situation.

When a second surgery was needed for a very rare complication from her injury Dr. Beckman did a tremendous amount of research and referred us to a surgeon at The University of Pennsylvania where the facility was equipped to handle the possible complications she could face with a lengthy mandibular surgery. His concern was for the surgical outcome and not for his own benefit. I cannot emphasize enough how much we appreciated his honesty and integrity. The second surgery was a success and Dr. Beckman provided all of the follow up and aftercare from the Florida office.

A third surgery was needed when she reached 6 months of age to provide her more comfort. Dr. Beckman performed this surgery brilliantly. His bedside manner is stellar, his knowledge and ability to explain very complicated medical issues to a layman is outstanding.

I was nervous contacting him at 6am with a concern . He not only returned my call immediately, he assured me I did not bother him and did the right thing by calling. His priority is giving your pet his undivided attention and care. Dr. Beckman is an amazing surgeon, caring and compassionate veterinarian and stellar human being.
