In many cases, an online password is all that separates the average person from hackers and malicious software. The stronger your password, the more protected your computer will be from financial or reputational harm.

Yesterday began National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). Celebrated every October, it was created as a collaborative effort to engage and educate public and private sector partners about cyber security with the goal to increase the resiliency of the nation in the event of a cyber incident.

The Internet touches almost all aspects of everyone’s daily life, whether we realize it or not. From our desks and homes to on the go, we work, learn and play online. Even when we are not directly connected to the Internet, our critical infrastructure impacts everyone.

Cyber security is the mechanism that maximizes our ability to grow commerce, communications, community and content in a connected world while minimizing the risk of information exposure.

There are several things that you can do to reduce your risk of becoming a victim of cyber hacking. Throughout October, we will provide useful tips and insight on how you can better secure your privacy. Stay tuned!
