NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Thursday that Guion was informed by the league that he's facing a suspension for his February arrest, per a source involved in the process. The eighth-year defender plans to appeal his punishment.
The league had no comment on the news of Guion's reported suspension when reached by NFL Media.
The three-game ban is no surprise after Guion was charged with possession of marijuana and a firearm on Feb. 3. Police uncovered 357 grams of marijuana and $190,000 in cash in Guion's vehicle. The firearm possession was a third-degree felony offense. Guion eventually pleaded no contest to misdemeanor possession.
Guion, 27, produced a career year with the Packers last season, piling up 32 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Filling in for the injured B.J. Raji, the one-time fifth-round pick of the Vikings started all 16 games for Green Bay. The Packers inked Guion to a one-year, $2.75 million deal soon after the defender's case was settled in March.
If the punishment sticks, Green Bay will open the year without a pair of assumed starters after defensive end Datone Jones was suspended without pay for the season opener against the Bears for violating the NFL's policy against substances of abuse.
