Until we get a viable, open social media network that's controlled by end-users, I am moving the locus of my online engagement to Twitter.

Here are the various places you can find me online:

On Twitter: https://twitter.com/gideonro
On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheVitalEdge/
On LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gideonrosenblatt/
On Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/gideonro/
On Medium: https://medium.com/@gideonro
On Diaspora: gideonro@pluspora.com https://pluspora.com/people/66e8ca20f4b201363cb2005056264835

I'm going to miss this place.

To buy Fitbit's latest watch, you have to go through a healthcare provider. That raises some long-term concerns over the privacy of all that health data flowing through your watch.

Nike's new self-lacing shoes will connect us to the cloud with a service tether. A service tether is an embedded product intelligence connected to the cloud so that a product can communicate with the company behind the product. Service tethers turn products into services.

Originally we heard August. Then "April." Now, it's the end of January and we learn that that's not actually the end of April, but the beginning. The only way Google could have shut G+ down faster while still mapping to that statement would have been closing it on April Fool's Day, which they obviously I couldn't do because people might have thought the whole thing was a cruel joke (and because it would have reminded people too much about what a joke the management of this whole shutdown process head been).
