During Hurricane Hans I was safely tucked away in the elaborate storm shelter built under my shed. I was recording dialog for the Labyrinth Tales radio play and working on a new book for the #Burgeron106  family that has just been published.

In this first ever Burgeron Family instructional/reference book I take you on an interactive tour of the family tree, introduce you to background stories and pivotal family events, and guide you to develop your own Burgeron Family member personae.  A must have for anyone (new and old) interested in playing with the #ds106 Open #burgeron106 community. You'll finally know who's who and what's what at the Burgeron Place.

I was inspired by a story that +Stefanie Jeske posted today on Flicker, "A Father's War", that I read it to the #burgeron106 kids tonight and recorded it.  Little Boo was there doing the sound effects as usual. That ghost is amazing. How he found that vintage BBC radio audio clip I'll never know. +Christina Hendricks Perhaps he and Cousin +Ronald L  took a quick trip on the Time Cycle.

I have sad news to share.  We had no choice but to shut down the Bovine County Fairy Tale Festival earlier than planned.  A massive hurricane is expected to hit the Texas coast and move inland over the next two weeks bringing severe flooding in its wake.  All artists in residence are to prepare for evacuation.  But thanks to Rockylou Radio Productions a radio show will air August 31st on DS106Radio featuring any and all final audio work submitted by #burgeron106  family members and #prisoner106  residents.  Stay tuned for more information on what, where, when and how to submit your audio files for the live broadcast.

Hey there #burgeron106  family. :-) The Bovine County Fairy Tale Festival is heading into its final weeks. This week you're invited to explore Fairy Tales and Folklore from the Far East. As a special treat, two videos and a site that includes audio recordings of each story can be found in the resource links.

Fanfic Assignments will be the focus topic to continue building our digital literacy skills. As of this posting there are only 10 Fanfic Assignments listed. I know the #burgeron106  family and #prisoner106  village residents would provide a great service to future #DS106  ers by creating a few new assignments. +John Johnston +Kathy Onarheim +Mariana Funes +janet webster +Ronald L +Christina Hendricks +Todd Conaway +Alan Levine +Talky Tina

I've had quite a weekend helping with the grounds maintenance at the festival and apologize for being a few hours late in posting this week's #burgeron106  fairy tale workshop information.

"You will find Buddhist legends here, along with traditional stories of Tibetan gods and goddesses, as well as magicians and wonder-workers. There are stories of ghosts and demons, plus many animal stories, including animal tricksters like the frog who is able to trick a tiger, or the rabbit who is able to trick a lion. There are fairy-tale stories, too, along with stories of human drama, both comical and tragic... In the 1922 collection pictured below, each of the stories is prefaced by a Tibetan proverb, and there are lovely illustrations for many of the stories."

We'll be focusing our creative efforts towards making movies.  For the #prisoner106    village residents - you're already in the swing of things. Can't wait to see what is made this week at the festival.

There has been some confusion of late over SuperMoo's gender.  She was seen running through the woods last summer and a few week ago he was head-over-hooves in love with +anna cow.  I've written this post to try and clear things up a bit for the #burgeron106  family and the  #Prisoner106  Village residents.

"The fairy tale makes a universal appeal because it deals with the elemental in our natures that is the same in every age and in every race. In the Canadian Tales .... gathered from Indian sources, we find the same types of character and scenes of adventure that we do in the tales of the German forests, of Scandinavia, England or France."
[from intro to "Canadian Fairy Tales" (published 1922) by JOHN GRIER HIBBEN]
And for us   #DS106  #4Life crazies, making GIFs holds a similar universal appeal.  Come join us at the #burgeron106  Bovine County Fairy Tale Festival this week to hone your GIFfing skills with North American fairy tales.

After watching more of those Prisoner Village video tapes that I found a few weeks back, I've noticed how there are a lot of concepts in the Village that sound fine on the surface. But things are not always as they seem. There's a big difference in what it means to be SEEN in the #Burgeron106   family vs. The Village.

This site has curated a nice little set of links that, should you wish, can take you a long way toward understanding Hans' art.
