I attended Developer Week in SF a couple of weeks ago and listened to a really great Women in Tech panel featuring +Amy Jollymore +Jennifer Davis +Anna-Chiara Bellini +anne ahola ward +Selby Walker, organized by +Arabella Santiago. At the end of the panel, an audience member asked what he and other men can do to make tech communities/companies more welcoming to women. Their responses included:

-       Be respectful/professional at the office-for everyone's sake
       Don't speak for her
-       Seek out/promote women into engineering/dev dept.
-       Ask her "What do you think?"

HELLO LEAN CONTENT COMMUNITY!

Below is SlideShare's Kevin Fisher presentation, “Beef-up Your Lean Content Marketing Efforts with SlideShare,” which he shared at the Lean Content Meetup in San Francisco this past Wednesday. 

I've also included a brief insight on how this presentation is representative of Lean methodologies as well as how it is relevant to our work at Scoop.it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you would apply Lean Content to B2B content marketing.

In his presentation, Kevin summarizes “content marketing” and applies Lean Content ideas to the use of SlideShare for B2B Marketing. His example of the tractor brand John Deere publishing content to help farmers become better at farming illustrates how providing knowledgeable and relevant information on a topic of expertise builds brand equity. At Scoop.it, we believe brands that understand the importance of engaging customers through smart content, look smart and gather communities of interests that turn into a loyal base of consumers and evangelists. Love this class at Noisebridge. If you're not in SF right now, you can watch the live Google Hangout for free. I'm in NJ and in the class now!
 
We'll take the knowledge we gained from looking at the CSS box model, floats, and positioning, and work off of a mockup ([http://jeffreyatw.com/static/frontend/series2/class5/mockup.png) and its annotated version (http://jeffreyatw.com/static/frontend/series2/class5/mockup_annotations.png) to make a site that could pass as a professional design (but don't take my word for it). I think people dig themselves deep into strategy and marketing and lose track of the actual purpose they started with, other than marketing strategy. Often when I look to find the actual content there isn't anything under all the schemes, strategy and marketing.
