Gorgeous costumes and Chinese kanzashi
It's like someone was listening to my comment about the doll costumes and made it real.  8-)  I wonder if there's any historical accuracy to what's going on here (not that it matters much, so pretty! 8-) as I've never seen tsumami kanzashi in any of the Chinese wushu dramas I've seen in the past (not that they are supposed to be paragons of historical accuracy either, but you'd think if they were all drawing from the same actual historic source there'd be commonality... ). Plus the costumes themselves seem to cover a range of historic styles and not just one time period.

Plastic film kanzashi
I've been admiring Sakae's kanzashi for years now.  They're beautiful.  This article mentions that they go for ¥100000-500000.  At about a penny per yen, that's still $1000-5000 CAD.  Considering that I lost one of my (much cheaper) kanzashi that I bought in Japan at a party last year (sob!) I seriously doubt Sakae is going to inspire anyone to make her wares daily wear!

It does, however, reinspire the urge to buy one of the modern kits (http://www.instructables.com/answers/How-does-one-make-a-liquid-plastic-dip/) to see what one might be able to produce personally....

Hair ornament architecture
Consider this one for a moment (http://www.asian-culture-shop.com/d.asp?a=Chinese+Classical+Chang%27e+Costumes+Complete+Set+%28Chinese+goddess+of+the+moon%29&d=2423).  If that were sticking out of a real head of hair, it would be a good... 30cm (1ft).  Then you stick a nice 50cm dangle off the end of it, and there's just no way it's a simple hair pin because it would slide right back out.  So it's a full stick that you wrap your hair around because it sticks out of both sides.  That's a 60cm (2ft) long ornamented stick plus dangles.

Lest you think I'm crazed, here's one they made with a real person (http://www.asian-culture-shop.com/d.asp?a=China+Ancient+Phoenix+Dance+Costume&d=754)

This one (http://www.asian-culture-shop.com/d.asp?a=Chinese+Traditional+Peace+Princess+Clothing+Complete+Set+for+Women&d=2665) has to be a good 30/40cm with a good solid anchor on the other end as well (the flower on her right?).

I'm thinking you could make the metre long dangles that hang off the bows you tie with your braids off with small hair claws (https://www.google.ca/search?q=hair+claw).  My overwhelming desire to try it probably has nothing to do with the fact that I'm supposed to be working on my taxes...  8-0 8-)

PS. what's a "peace princess"?  8-)

I think you need to wear the laser crown (http://www.instructables.com/id/Laser-Crown/) with the dress.

An intense collection of spiffy polymer clay tutorials
It all appears to be one massive post.  Which is sad because it'd be nice if this person were a constant source of new, high quality tutorials.  8-)  Still, what's here is very good.
