Making these tasty potato wedges couldn't be simpler.

Cut your potatoes into wedges, leaving on the skin for extra fibre, and toss in a little oil. Sprinkle with a little low sodium salt and your favourite herbs or spices. Bake on a tray in a moderate oven until the outsides are crispy and the insides are soft and fluffy.

Serve with some tangy homemade salsa.

Research from a leading US university has concluded that increasing your intake of fibre is key to losing weight and improving health. The study followed two groups of people who were at risk of developing diabetes; one group simply increased their fibre intake while the other group was asked to reduce calorie consumption and limit saturated fat. After one year both groups recorded similar weight loss but those who consumed more fibre also recorded lower scores in cholesterol levels, blood pressure, blood sugar and inflammation. http://www.hooposnacks.com/

Increasingly more doctors are writing "park prescriptions" in the battle against obesity. Experts claim that it's much easier to maintain an exercise regimen when it's outdoors based. GPs say that by issuing their recommendations in writing, patients are more likely to follow instructions.

Kale is in season right now so make the most of this vitamin packed veg. Try making kale crisps instead of just piling it onto your dinner plate.

Tear kale into bite-size pieces, and in a bowl, toss with a little rapeseed oil and some seasoning. Bake in a warm oven until crisp. Healthy and delicious!

Have you tried rapeseed oil? Also known as canola oil, it's lower in saturated fat than olive oil and it has a high smoke point which means that you can use it in all different types of cooking. http://www.hooposnacks.com/

Research has found that we can do too much exercise and could even reduce our life expectancy because of it. A study by the American Journal of Cardiology that found that the ideal of amount of jogging each week is between 1 and 2.4 hours, and the optimum pace is slow: joggers who plod along can expect to live longer than those who jog more frequently and at a fast pace.

An exercise ball is a great way to strengthen the abs. It's more effective than floor crunches because it makes your abs do most of the work.

Lie on the ball, so it's under the lower back.Cross arms over the chest or place behind head.

Contract abs to lift torso off the ball, pulling the bottom of the ribcage down toward hips.Curl up, keeping the ball stable.

Lower back down, getting a stretch in the abs. Repeat for 1-3 sets of 12-16 reps.
